The impact of social networks on youth health during the isolation period: an integrative review

Resumo: Objective: To identify through the literature the impact of social networks on the mental health of young people during isolation in the pandemic of COVID-19 and describe the ways found to reduce the risks presented. Method: This is an integrative literature review, using the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE, IBECS, BDENF / Virtual Health Library, using the keywords Social network, Mental health, COVID and young people, published between 2019 and 2021. Results: Twelve articles were found that answered the research question. The analysis resulted in three categories: the harmful effects on the mental health of young people, the use and impact of social networks and ways to alleviate the problem. Final considerations: The impacts arising from social isolation and social networks are noticeable and have a long term duration, the vast majority of young people have severe mental disorders and it is necessary to combat this problem, the support of parents and the health system.

Método: Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura, utilizando las bases de datos:  MEDLINE, IBECS, BDENF / Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, LILACS, utilizando las palabras clave Red social, Salud mental, COVID y jóvenes, publicados entre 2019 y 2021. Resultados: Doce artículos fueron encontró que respondió a la pregunta de investigación. El análisis dio como resultado tres categorías: los efectos nocivos sobre la salud mental de los jóvenes, el uso e impacto de las redes sociales y las formas de paliar el problema. Considerações finais: Los impactos del aislamiento social y las redes sociales son notorios y tienen una duración de largo plazo, la gran mayoría de los jóvenes padecen trastornos mentales severos y es necesario para combatir este problema, el apoyo de los padres y el sistema de salud.Objetivo: Identificar por meio da literatura o impacto das redes sociais na saúde mental dos jovens durante o isolamento na pandemia da COVID-19 e descrever as maneiras encontradas para reduzir os riscos apresentados. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, recorrendo-se as bases de dados: MEDLINE, IBECS, BDENF/Biblioteca Virtual de saúde, LILCAS, utilizando os descritores rede social, Saúde mental, COVID and jovens, publicados entre 2019 e 2021. Resultados: Foram encontrados doze artigos que responderam à pergunta de pesquisa. Da análise, resultaram três categorias: os efeitos nocivos à saúde mental dos jovens, a utilização e o impacto das redes sociais e formas de atenuar a problemática.
