Resumo: This article presents an analysis of the relationship between education and authoritarianism in Florestan Fernandes' teaching experience, approaching the human condition of existence in a society of authoritarian culture where, with this perspective, it expands the analysis beyond the strict conception of authoritarian regime. In this way, it demonstrates that the cultural and didactic aspects faced by Florestan were also marked by clashes against an authoritarian civic culture that he fought for all his life, whether as a “lumpem”, as a student, as a teacher or as a citizen. Situated in the field of studies called Brazilian political and social thought, this work has as a privileged “empirical instance” – a term by Florestan Fernandes himself – the works and documents produced by the authors studied. Through these we can scrutinize the relationship between training, teaching and authoritarianism and, with this, contribute to an interpretation that, when considering humanity as becoming, understands that it is never ready and, furthermore, that experiences are not watertight. As a result of this work, we obtained an expansion, both on teaching and its “training” and on the concept of authoritarianism, of the analytical horizon of Florestan Fernandes.

De esta manera, demuestra que los aspectos culturales y didácticos que enfrentó Florestan también estuvieron marcados por enfrentamientos contra una cultura cívica autoritaria por la que luchó toda su vida, ya sea como “lumpem”, como alumno, como docente o como ciudadano. Situada en el campo de estudios denominado pensamiento político y social brasileño, esta obra tiene como “instancia empírica” privilegiada, término del propio Florestan Fernandes, las obras y documentos producidos por los autores estudiados. A través de ellos podemos escudriñar la relación entre educación, enseñanza y autoritarismo y, con ello, contribuir a una interpretación que, al considerar a la humanidad como devenir, entiende que nunca está lista y, además, que las experiencias no son estancas. Como resultado de este trabajo, obtuvimos una ampliación, tanto en la enseñanza y su “formación” como en el concepto de autoritarismo, del horizonte analítico de Florestan Fernandes.O presente artigo apresenta uma análise da relação entre educação e autoritarismo na experiência docente de Florestan Fernandes abordando a condição humana de existência na sociedade de cultura autoritária onde, com esta perspectiva, amplia a análise para além da concepção estrita de regime autoritário. Desta forma demonstra que os aspectos culturais e didáticos enfrentados por Florestan também foram marcados por embates contra uma cultura cívica autoritária combatida por ele por toda a vida, seja como “lumpem”, como discente, como docente ou como cidadão. Situando-se no campo de estudos denominado de pensamento político e social brasileiro, este trabalho possui como “instância empírica” privilegiada – termo do próprio Florestan Fernandes – as próprias obras e documentos elaborados pelos autores estudados. Através destas podemos perscrutar a respeito da relação entre formação, docência e autoritarismo e, com isso, contribuir com uma interpretação que, ao considerar a humanidade como devir, entende que esta nunca está pronta e, além disso, que as experiências não são estanques.
