The practice of aerobic physical exercises in improving the health of postmenopausal women

Resumo: This article aimed to evaluate the benefits of physical exercise practice systematized in women suffering with the bothersome symptoms of menopause in the city of Castanhal-PA (BR), comparing data from physically active postmenopausal women with women also menopausal however sedentary, by applying the questionnaire Menopause Rating Scale (MRS - Menopause Rating Scale), the Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC). This study was descriptive and cross-sectional nature, which evaluated 33 menopausal women, 17 physically active and 16 sedentary. MRS assessed the participants into three areas: somato-vegetative symptoms, psychological symptoms and urogenital symptoms and physically active had a lower severity in all areas. According to the BMI, it was observed that 38% were sedentary obese grade I and 6% with class II obesity while only 6% of physically active with class I obesity and obesity in no condition grade II. For WC, all study participants 29% of physically active presented no risk, moreover only 6% of sedentary proved without risk for diseases associated with obesity. In the present study regular aerobic exercise intensity controlled positively influenced the quality of life and the intensity of climacteric symptoms.

In the present study regular aerobic exercise intensity controlled positively influenced the quality of life and the intensity of climacteric symptoms.El presente artículo tuvo como objetivo evaluar los beneficios del ejercicio físico sistemático en mujeres que padecen los incómodos síntomas de la menopausia en la ciudad de Castanhal-PA, comparando datos de mujeres menopáusicas físicamente activas con los de mujeres menopáusicas, por sedentarias que sean, mediante aplicación del cuestionario Menopause Rating Scale (MRS), el Body Mass Index (BMI) y la Waist Circumference (WC). Este estudio fue realizado de carácter descriptivo y transversal, que evaluó a 33 mujeres menopáusicas, 17 físicamente activas y 16 sedentarias. El MRS evaluó a los participantes en tres dominios: síntomas somato-vegetativos, síntomas psicológicos y síntomas urogenitales y los físicamente activos presentaron menor gravedad en todos los dominios. Según el IMC, se observó que el 38% de las mujeres sedentarias presentaban obesidad grado I y el 6% obesidad grado II, mientras que solo el 6% de las activas físicamente presentaban obesidad grado I y ninguna en grado II. En relación a la CC, del total de participantes en la investigación, el 29% de las físicamente activas no mostró riesgo, por otro lado, solo el 6% de las mujeres sedentarias no mostró riesgo de enfermedades asociadas a la obesidad. En el presente estudio, el ejercicio físico aeróbico regular de intensidad controlada influyó positivamente en la calidad de vida y la intensidad de los síntomas climatéricos.O presente artigo teve como objetivo avaliar os benefícios da prática do exercício físico sistematizado em mulheres que sofrem com os sintomas incomodativos da menopausa na cidade de Castanhal-PA, comparando dados de mulheres menopáusicas fisicamente ativas com de mulheres também menopáusicas, porém sedentárias, mediante aplicação do questionário da Escala de Avaliação da Menopausa (MRS - Menopause Rating Scale), do Índice de Massa Corpórea (IMC) e da Circunferência da Cintura (CC). O desenho deste estudo é descritivo e transversal, e avaliou 33 mulheres menopáusicas, sendo 17 fisicamente ativas e 16 sedentárias. O MRS avaliou as participantes em três domínios: sintomas somato-vegetativos, sintomas psicológicos e sintomas urogenitais. As fisicamente ativas apresentaram menor severidade em todos os domínios. De acordo com o IMC, observou-se que das sedentárias 38% estavam com obesidade grau I e 6% com obesidade grau II enquanto que apenas 6% das fisicamente ativas com obesidade grau I e nenhuma na condição de obesidade grau II. Em relação a CC, de todas as participantes da pesquisa 29% das fisicamente ativas apresentaram sem risco, por outro lado somente 6% das sedentárias se mostraram sem risco para doenças associadas à obesidade.
