Aluminum as generator theme in teaching Chemistry: a didactical-methodological proposal

Resumo: | Chemistry teaching is essential for understanding the world today, however, it has characteristics of disconnection between the student’s knowledge and the program contents of the discipline. It is necessary to insert facilitating methodologies of learning, which will aid the critical formation and the promotion of reflection on the chemical knowledge, adding technological, environmental and socioeconomical aspects. Thus, to link education and society the knowledge generator themes are included in the educational field. Among these, aluminum is an important chemical element, which allows this type of approach for being associated to several scopes of applicability in the society and being present in the student’s daily life. In this context, the objective of this work is to develop a theoretical and experimental study involving such metal and to discuss its singular characteristics, not only on industrial scale, but also in a chemistry teaching perspective, generating a didactic-methodological proposal. The methodological aspects consist of 3 stages: (i) bibliographical research to know the theoretical axes existing in the literature; (ii) survey of bibliographical data and proposition of a questionnaire about the recycling processes of this metal in several daily applications; and (iii) realization of 3 classes approaching the historical and social aspects, properties and chemical reactions and 3 experiments involving aluminum, aiming at the experimental demonstration of 3 reactions in its different chemical characteristics. This study indicates that this thematic axis is favorable for the teaching-learning process, because it offers a range of specific concepts of chemistry, from chemical reactions to physical-chemical properties of the element aluminum, along with environmental biases. |

Es imprescindible introducir metodologías que faciliten el aprendizaje, que ayuden a la formación crítica y al fomento de la reflexión sobre el conocimiento químico, añadiendo aspectos tecnológicos, medioambientales y socioeconómicos. Para vincular la educación y la sociedad, se incluyen temas generadores de conocimiento en el ámbito educativo. El aluminio es un elemento químico importante, que permite enfoques de esta naturaleza porque se asocia con diversas áreas de aplicabilidad en la sociedad y por su presencia en la vida cotidiana de los estudiantes. El objetivo de este estudio es desarrollar una propuesta de experimentos demostrativos con el aluminio como tema y discutir sus características únicas, no sólo a escala industrial, sino también en una perspectiva de enseñanza de la química, generando una propuesta didáctico-metodológica. Los aspectos metodológicos consisten en 3 etapas: (i) investigación bibliográfica para conocer los ejes teóricos existentes en la literatura; (ii) levantamiento de datos bibliográficos y propuesta de un cuestionario sobre los procesos de reciclaje de este metal en diversas aplicaciones cotidianas; y (III) realización de 3 clases abordando los aspectos históricos y sociales, propiedades y reacciones químicas y 3 experimentos que incluyan el uso del aluminio, buscando la demostración experimental de 3 reacciones en sus diferentes características químicas. Se considera que el presente estudio indica que este eje temático es favorable para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, debido a que ofrece una gama de conceptos específicos de la química, desde las reacciones químicas hasta las propiedades físico-químicas del elemento aluminio, junto con los sesgos ambientales.O ensino de Química é indispensável para compreensão do mundo atual, porém, possui características de desconexão entre os saberes do educando e os conteúdos programáticos da disciplina. É imprescindível a inserção de metodologias facilitadoras da aprendizagem, que auxiliem na formação crítica e promoção da reflexão sobre o conhecimento químico, agregando aspectos tecnológicos, ambientais e socioeconômicos. Para vinculação entre educação e sociedade são incluídos os temas geradores de conhecimento no campo educacional. O alumínio é um importante elemento químico, que permite abordagens desta natureza por associar-se a diversos âmbitos de aplicabilidade na sociedade e sua presença no cotidiano do aluno. O objetivo deste é desenvolver uma proposta de experimentos demonstrativos tendo como temática o alumínio e discutir suas características ímpares, não só em escala industrial, mas, também, em uma perspectiva do ensino de química, gerando uma proposta didático-metodológica.
