Characterization of dropout in Business Administration at the Federal University of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys - Campus do Mucuri, between 2014 and 2018

Resumo: School dropout is a phenomenon characterized by the dropout of students in higher education. This means that these, when for any reason, dropout graduation is considered evaded. This paper aimed to characterize and investigate the causes of dropout in Business Administration. It is a descriptive research, made by data collection, to describe a certain phenomenon, and of a qualitative and quantitative nature, in which interviews were conducted to identify the causes and analyze the dropout percentages presented by the reports of the Academic Registration and Control Board, to present the behavior of the phenomenon. In the data analysis it was observed that the dropout rate was 38% (thirty-eight percent) and, of these, the largest number of dropouts were men, who attended high school in a public school in the municipality of Teófilo Otoni. Before being dismissed, 44% (forty-four percent) of enrollments were active for a period longer than five years, demonstrating a persistent dropout to complete the graduation initiated. It was observed that the main reasons were the adequacy of the curriculum and evaluation system of the federal higher education institution, the difficulty of interaction with teachers and the need for prior leveling to be able to follow the studies of undergraduate subjects. Thus, it is important for the institution to observe these points with its teachers, formulate a new way of interacting and evaluating its students so that they adapt to the undergraduate degree and are able to complete the course.

Esto significa que estos, cuando por cualquier motivo, la graduación de abandono se considera evadida. Este documento tuvo como objetivo caracterizar e investigar las causas de la deserción en la Administración de Empresas. Es una investigación descriptiva, realizada mediante la recopilación de datos, para describir un determinado fenómeno, y de naturaleza cualitativa y cuantitativa, en el que se realizaron entrevistas para identificar las causas y analizar los porcentajes de abandono presentados por los informes de la Junta de Registro y Control Académico, presentar el comportamiento del fenómeno. En el análisis de datos se observó que la tasa de deserción era del 38% (treinta y ocho por ciento) y, de estos, el mayor número de deserciones eran hombres, que asistían a la escuela secundaria en una escuela pública en el municipio de Teófilo Otoni. Antes de ser despedido, el 44% (cuarenta y cuatro por ciento) de las inscripciones estuvieron activas durante un período superior a cinco años, lo que demuestra un abandono persistente para completar la graduación iniciada. Se observó que las razones principales eran la adecuación del plan de estudios y el sistema de evaluación de la institución federal de educación superior, la dificultad de interacción con los docentes y la necesidad de nivelación previa para poder seguir los estudios de las asignaturas de pregrado. Por lo tanto, es importante que la institución observe estos puntos con sus maestros, formule una nueva forma de interactuar y evaluar a sus estudiantes para que se adapten al título universitario y puedan completar el curso.A evasão escolar é um fenômeno que se caracteriza pela desistência dos discentes em cursarem o Ensino Superior. Isso significa que estes, quando por qualquer motivo, abandona graduação é considerado evadido. Este trabalho teve por objetivo caracterizar e investigar as causas da evasão no curso de Administração. É uma pesquisa descritiva, feita por coleta de dados, para descrever determinado fenômeno, e de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, na qual realizaram entrevistas para identificar as causas e fazer a análise dos percentuais de evasão apresentados pelos relatórios da Diretoria de Registro e Controle Acadêmico, para apresentar o comportamento do fenômeno. Na análise dos dados observou-se que a taxa de evasão foi de 38% (trinta e oito por cento) e, desses, o número maior de evadidos eram homens, que fizeram o ensino médio em escola pública, no município de Teófilo Otoni. Antes de serem desligadas, 44% (quarenta e quatro por cento) das matrículas ficavam ativas por um período maior do que cinco anos, demonstrando uma persistência dos evadidos para concluir a graduação iniciada. Observou-se que os principais motivos foram adequação a grade curricular e o sistema de avaliação da instituição de ensino superior federal, a dificuldade de interação com os professores e a necessidade de nivelamento prévio para conseguir acompanhar os estudos das matérias da graduação.
