Dental fragment bonding as a technique in oral rehabilitation: literature review

Resumo: Introduction: The frequency of dental fracture, as well as the difficulties to restore them properly have stimulated the development of restorative techniques and materials that provide aesthetics and function seemly to the natural dentition. One of the techniques that most provide aesthetics and function in a harmonious way to fractured anterior teeth is the fragment reattachment. Objective: The objective of this article was to review the available literature, to present the indications, advantages, limitations, classification, diagnostic criteria and selection of material and technique to be used to perform the fragment reattachment technique. Results: The present work is a bibliographic review research where it was carried out through the online library, in the PubMed and VHL databases of articles in addition to book chapters, in portuguese or english in the period from 1955 to 2019. 30 articles with full text in electronic support and that fit the inclusion / exclusion criteria and 5 books were selected. Conclusion: The use of the fragment bonding technique is an excellent, important and lasting alternative for the restoration of fractured anterior teeth, both from the aesthetic and functional point of view, as well as from the psychological point of view.

Una de las técnicas que más proporcionan estética y función de manera armoniosa a los dientes anteriores fracturados es la unión de fragmentos. Objetivo: El objetivo de este artículo fue revisar la literatura disponible, presentar las indicaciones, ventajas, limitaciones, clasificación, criterios de diagnóstico y selección del material y la técnica que se utilizará para realizar la técnica de unión de fragmentos. Resultados: El presente trabajo es una investigación de revisión bibliográfica donde se realizó a través de la biblioteca en línea, en las bases de datos PubMed y BVS de artículos además de capítulos de libros, en portugués o inglés en el período de 1955 a 2019. Se seleccionaron 30 artículos con texto completo en soporte electrónico y que se ajustan a los criterios de inclusión / exclusión y 5 libros. Conclusión: El uso de la técnica de unión de fragmentos es una alternativa excelente, importante y duradera para la restauración de dientes anteriores fracturados, tanto desde el punto de vista estético como funcional, así como desde el punto de vista psicológico.Introdução: A frequencia com que os dentes se fraturam, bem como as dificuldades para restaurá-los adequadamente têm estimulado o desenvolvimento de técnicas e materiais restauradores que proporcionem estética e função o mais próximo da dentição natural. Uma das técnicas que mais proporcionam estética e função de forma harmoniosa aos dentes anteriores fraturados é a colagem de fragmento. Objetivo: O objetivo desse artigo foi rever a literatura disponível, apresentar as indicações, vantagens, limitações, classificação, critérios de diagnóstico e de seleção de material e de técnica a serem utilizadados para a realização da técnica de colagem de fragmento. Resultados: O presente trabalho trata-se de uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica aonde foi realizada através da biblioteca on-line, nas bases de dados PubMed e BVS de artigos além de capítulos de livros, em português ou inglês no período temporal de 1955 a 2019. Foram selecionados 30 artigos com texto completo em suporte eletrônico e que se enquadravam nos critérios de inclusão/exclusão e 5 livros.
