Tratamiento quirúrgico de la pigmentación gingival versus laser: Eficácia, resultados estéticos y funcionales

Resumo: This study aimed to investigate the approaches and outcomes of surgical treatment of gingival pigmentation compared to laser treatment, aiming to understand the efficacy and aesthetic and functional outcomes associated with these procedures. It is an integrative review that included studies with primary data published between January 2015 and November 2023, in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages, excluding case reports, abstracts and editorials. The descriptors/keywords used were: "Aesthetic and Functional Outcomes"; "Gingival Dyschromia"; "Gingival Pigmentation"; "Laser Treatment"; "Surgical Interventions". The databases ScienceDirect, PubMed and SciELO were selected. After applying the eligibility criteria, 113 studies were identified in the databases, and 6 were selected to compose the final sample of this review. The selected studies aimed to evaluate gingival depigmentation techniques, such as surgery with scalpel, injection of vitamin C, and application of Nd: YAG, diode and Er,Cr: YSGG lasers. By investigating the approaches and outcomes of surgical treatment of gingival pigmentation compared to laser treatment, it was found that the results obtained from the various studies analyzed provide a comprehensive overview of the current scenario of these interventions, providing important information for clinical practice, such as versatility in treatment, patient comfort and effectiveness in healing.

Es una revisión integradora que incluyó estudios con datos primarios publicados entre enero de 2015 y noviembre de 2023, en los idiomas inglés, portugués y español, excluyendo informes de casos, resúmenes y editoriales. Se utilizaron los descriptores/palabras clave: "Discromía gingival"; "Intervenciones quirúrgicas"; "Pigmentación gingival"; "Resultados estéticos y funcionales"; "Tratamiento con láser". Se seleccionaron las bases de datos ScienceDirect, PubMed y SciELO. Después de aplicar los criterios de elegibilidad, se identificaron 113 estudios en las bases de datos y se seleccionaron 6 para componer la muestra final de esta revisión. Los estudios seleccionados tuvieron como objetivo evaluar las técnicas de despigmentación gingival, como la cirugía con bisturí, la inyección de vitamina C y la aplicación de láseres Nd: YAG, diodo y Er,Cr: YSGG. Al investigar los enfoques y resultados del tratamiento quirúrgico de la pigmentación gingival en comparación con el tratamiento con láser, se encontró que los resultados obtenidos de los diversos estudios analizados brindan una visión general completa del escenario actual de estas intervenciones, brindando información importante para la práctica clínica, como la versatilidad en el tratamiento, la comodidad del paciente y la eficacia en la cicatrización.Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar as abordagens e resultados do tratamento cirúrgico da pigmentação gengival em comparação com o laser, visando compreender a eficácia e os desfechos estéticos e funcionais associados a esses procedimentos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa que teve como critérios de inclusão estudos com dados primários publicados entre o período de janeiro de 2015 a novembro de 2023, nos idiomas inglês, português e espanhol, sendo excluídos relatos de caso clínico, resumos e editoriais. Foram utilizados os descritores/palavras-chave: “Discromia gengival”; “intervenções cirúrgicas”; “pigmentação gengival”; “Resultados estéticos e funcionais”; “Tratamento com laser”, e, em seguida, foram selecionadas as bases de dados ScienceDirect, PubMed e SciELO. A partir da aplicação dos critérios de elegibilidade, foram identificados 113 estudos nas bases de dados, sendo 6 selecionados para compor a amostra final desta revisão. Os estudos selecionados buscaram avaliar técnicas de despigmentação gengival, como a cirurgia com bisturi, injeção de vitamina C, e aplicação de lasers Nd: YAG, diodo e Er,Cr: YSGG.
