Conceptions of biology teachers in initial training on biological evolution

Resumo: The recognition of the importance of evolution for biology is well known and pointed out by several researchers and historians of science. Given this fact, our objective with this investigation was to identify in the conceptions of thirteen biology teachers, in the initial formation, an importance attributed by them and their conceptions of biological evolution. Therefore, we collected the data through a questionnaire and video recordings of biweekly meetings with the research subjects, academics from a state university in the State of Paraná. These data were categorized and built a metatext from the Textual Discursive Analysis (ATD). We identified that teachers in initial training are aware of the epistemological importance of evolution for scientific biology, however they presented  concepts of evolution based on synthetic theory, which demonstrates a lack of interaction of the most current debates about evolutionary mechanisms and processes.

Dado este hecho, nuestro objetivo con esta investigación fue identificar en las concepciones de trece profesores de biología, en la formación inicial, una importancia atribuida por ellos y sus concepciones de la evolución biológica. Para este propósito, recolectamos los datos a través de un cuestionario y grabaciones de video de las reuniones quincenales con los sujetos de investigación, académicos de una universidad estatal en el Estado de Paraná. Estos datos fueron categorizados y constituidos en un metatexto del Análisis Discursivo Textual (ATD). Identifica que los maestros en la formación inicial conocen la importancia epistemológica de la evolución para la biología científica, sin embargo, los conceptos de evolución estacionarios en la teoría sintética, o demuestran una falta de interacción con debates más recientes sobre métodos y procesos evolutivos.O reconhecimento da importância da evolução para a biologia é notória e apontada por diversos pesquisadores e historiadores da ciência. Diante desse fato, nosso objetivo com esta investigação foi de identificar nas concepções de treze professores de biologia, em formação inicial, a importância atribuída por eles e suas concepções de evolução biológica. Para tanto, coletamos os dados por meio de um questionário e de gravações de vídeos dos encontros quinzenais com os sujeitos da pesquisa, acadêmicos de uma universidade estadual do Estado do Paraná. Esses dados foram categorizados e constituíram um metatexto a partir da Análise Textual Discursiva (ATD).
