Epidemiological and clinical profile of patients with Covid-19 in an Intensive Care Unit of a public hospital in Teresina-PI

Resumo: Introduction: The clinical course of COVID-19 presents clinical manifestations that range from no symptoms to severe pneumonia, cardiac or brain damage. Objective: To analyze the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients with COVID-19 admitted to the ICU of a Public Hospital in Teresina-PI. Methods: it has a descriptive and retrospective design performed by analyzing medical records, including patients with COVID-19 who were admitted to the ICU between April and October 2020, discharged from hospital or evolved to death, over 18 years old, of both sexes and those that highlight with incomplete data are excluded. Results: 240 patients were included and most were elderly (63.9 ± 15.9 years), male (55%), married (55.8%) and from the countryside of Piauí (46.7%) who have comorbidities such as SAH (55.6%) and DM (33.9%). Conclusion: This is a serious pathology that involves long hospital stays, often requiring intubation and IMV, in addition to unconventional interventions, such as pronation.

El curso clínico de COVID-19 presenta manifestaciones clínicas que van desde la ausencia de síntomas hasta neumonía severa, daño cardíaco o cerebral. Objetivo: Analizar el perfil epidemiológico y clínico de los pacientes con COVID-19 ingresados en la UCI de un Hospital Público de Teresina-PI. Métodos: Tiene un diseño descriptivo y retrospectivo realizado mediante el análisis de historias clínicas, incluyendo pacientes con COVID-19 que ingresaron en la UCI entre abril y octubre de 2020, habiendo sido dados de alta del hospital o evolucionados a muerte, mayores de 18 años, de ambos Se excluyen los sexos y aquellos con datos incompletos. Resultados: Se incluyeron 240 pacientes y la mayoría eran ancianos (63,9 ± 15,9 años), varones (55%), casados (55,8%) y del campo de Piauí (46,7%) con comorbilidades, como HAS (55,6%) y DM (33,9%). Conclusión: Se trata de una patología grave que implica largas estancias hospitalarias, requiriendo muchas veces intubación y VMI, además de intervenciones no convencionales, como la pronación.Introdução: A evolução clínica do COVID-19 apresenta manifestações clínicas que variam desde nenhum sintoma a pneumonia grave, lesões cardíacas ou cerebrais. Objetivo: Analisar o perfil epidemiológico e clínico dos pacientes com COVID-19 internados na UTI de um Hospital Público de Teresina-PI. Métodos: Possui delineamento descritivo e retrospectivo realizado pela análise de prontuários onde foram incluídos pacientes com COVID-19 que foram admitidos na UTI entre abril e outubro de 2020, tendo recebido alta hospitalar ou evoluído com óbito, acima de 18 anos, de ambos os sexos e excluídos aqueles que estiverem com dados incompletos. Resultados: Foram incluídos 240 pacientes e a maioria eram idosos (63,9 ± 15,9 anos), sexo masculino (55%), casados (55,8%) e do interior do Piauí (46,7%) que apresentam comorbidades, como a HAS (55,6%) e DM (33,9%).
