Work satisfaction factors: an indicator of human resources in Nursing

Resumo: Objective: to evaluate job satisfaction among nurses at a university hospital in the North of Brazil. Method: descriptive and exploratory study, with quantitative analysis. For data collection, a questionnaire was used to characterize the population and the Professional Satisfaction Index instrument considering the components of autonomy, interaction, professional status, work requirements, organizational norms and remuneration. The data were analyzed using the Statistics Predictive Analytics Software statistical program. Results: 84 nurses participated in the research, mostly female (n = 52, 61.9%), single (n = 43, 51.2%), with postgraduate studies (n = 72, 85.7%). The component that had the most importance was remuneration, with a weighting coefficient of 3.5860 and the least important was professional status with a weighting coefficient of 1.4819. The real level of satisfaction was the remuneration, followed by the components, work requirements, interaction, autonomy, organizational norms and finally the professional status. Conclusion: the level of job satisfaction of nurses at a university hospital in the Northern Region of Brazil was considered low (10.01). The remuneration component was identified as the most important and also as the highest true level of satisfaction.

Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario para caracterizar la población y el instrumento Índice de Satisfacción Profesional considerando los componentes de autonomía, interacción, estatus profesional, requerimientos laborales, normas organizacionales y remuneración. Los datos se analizaron mediante el programa estadístico Statistics Predictive Analytics Software. Resultados: 84 enfermeras participaron en la investigación, en su mayoría mujeres (n = 52, 61,9%), solteros (n = 43, 51,2%), con estudios de posgrado (n = 72, 85,7%). El componente que tuvo más importancia fue la remuneración, con un coeficiente de ponderación de 3,5860 y el menos importante fue el estatus profesional con un coeficiente de ponderación de 1,4819. El nivel real de satisfacción fue la remuneración, seguido de los componentes, requerimientos laborales, interacción, autonomía, normas organizacionales y finalmente el estatus profesional. Conclusión: el nivel de satisfacción laboral de los enfermeros en un hospital universitario de la Región Norte de Brasil se consideró bajo (10.01). El componente de la remuneración fue identificado como el más importante y también como el más alto nivel real de satisfacción.Objetivo: avaliar a satisfação no trabalho entre enfermeiros de um hospital universitário da Região Norte do Brasil. Metodologia: estudo descritivo e exploratório, de análise quantitativa. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se um questionário para caracterização da população e o instrumento Índice de Satisfação Profissional considerando os componentes autonomia, interação, status profissional, requisitos do trabalho, normas organizacionais e remuneração. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa estatístico Statistics Predictive Analytics Software. Resultados: 84 enfermeiros participaram da pesquisa, maioria do sexo feminino (n=52, 61,9%), solteiros (n=43, 51,2%), com pós-graduação (n=72, 85,7%). O componente que teve a maior importância foi a remuneração, com coeficiente de ponderação de 3,5860 e o de menor importância foi o status profissional com coeficiente de ponderação de 1,4819. O nível verdadeiro de satisfação foi a remuneração, seguido dos componentes, requisitos do trabalho, interação, autonomia, normas organizacionais e por fim o status profissional. Conclusão: o nível de satisfação no trabalho dos enfermeiros de um hospital universitário da Região Norte do Brasil foi considerado baixo (10,01).
