Resumo: | Cancer is a group of more than one hundred diseases, where there is an irregular growth of cells that attack organs and tissues, which can proliferate to other regions of the body. Patients whose cancer is advanced have a prognosis of death and go through the period of the terminal phase of the disease. There is a need for a multidisciplinary team that works to alleviate the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients. These needs are met through palliative care until the end of life. The physiotherapist will act to prevent complications that may appear, whether osteomyoarticular, respiratory or due to disuse that may cause physical and functional damage. Objective: to understand the role of the physiotherapist in palliative care and the resources used to improve the quality of life of terminal cancer patients. Method: the study is a systematic literature review. Results: physiotherapy will act in an interdisciplinary and integral way at all levels of care, promoting health and restoring the individual's functionality. The resources used by physiotherapy in palliative care are Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), superficial thermotherapy, kinesiotherapy, massage, joint mobilization, muscle strengthening, bronchial hygiene techniques and, if necessary, mechanical ventilation. Conclusion: the issue of palliative care and the resources that physical therapists use to comfort the terminally ill cancer patient is still little discussed. It is necessary that there is more knowledge of professionals and students of physiotherapy about the area, as this requires professional maturity and emotional stability of the professional. |

Research, Society and Development2021-12-11info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/2314810.33448/rsd-v10i16.23148Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 No. 16; e190101623148Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 Núm. 16; e190101623148Research, Society and Development; v. 10 n. 16; e1901016231482525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/23148/20850Copyright (c) 2021 Laís Evelin Santos Silva; Mateus da Silva Cruz; Júlia de Oliveira; Giovanna Duarte Sampaio Ribeiro; Poliani de Oliveira Lima; Abrahão Augusto Joviniano Quadros; Cláudia Kümpelhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Laís Evelin Santos Cruz, Mateus da Silva Oliveira, Júlia de Ribeiro, Giovanna Duarte Sampaio Lima, Poliani de Oliveira Quadros, Abrahão Augusto Joviniano Kümpel, Cláudia2021-12-20T11:03:07Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/23148Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:42:06.299060Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false |
