Promotion of healthy eating: a study with a group of adolescents and families

Resumo: Studies reveal that the eating habits of Brazilian adolescents and their families are unhealthy, and that promotion developed at this stage of life can favor the adoption of a healthier lifestyle during adulthood. The present work aimed to describe the development and implementation of an educational intervention aimed at promoting healthy eating for adolescents and their families, through a qualitative research, guided by the Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Data collection took place through semi-structured interviews with seven adolescents and their families, where they participated in four meetings for intervention and evaluation of an educational action. The analysis of the Collective Subject Discourse highlighted two themes, one related to the consumption of ultra-processed foods and the other about the perception of adolescents and families after the health promotion action. It was concluded that before the intervention, the adolescents and their families consumed too much ultra-processed foods, such as sausages, stuffed cookies, sweets and fried foods, after the dialogic meetings as elements of intervention, the evaluation was positive, showing a reflection for attitudinal and behavioral changes. such as: a reduction in the intake of inappropriate foods and an increase in the consumption of healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables.

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo describir el desarrollo e implementación de una intervención educativa dirigida a promover la alimentación saludable de los adolescentes y sus familias, a través de una investigación cualitativa, guiada por la Pedagogía del Oprimido. La recolección de datos ocurrió a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas con siete adolescentes y sus familias, donde participaron de cuatro encuentros de intervención y evaluación de una acción educativa. El análisis del Discurso del Sujeto Colectivo destacó dos temas, uno relacionado con el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados y otro sobre la percepción de los adolescentes y las familias después de la acción de promoción de la salud. Se concluyó que antes de la intervención los adolescentes y sus familias consumían en exceso alimentos ultraprocesados, como chorizos, galletitas rellenas, dulces y frituras, luego de los encuentros dialógicos como elementos de intervención, la evaluación fue positiva, mostrando una reflexión para cambios de actitud y comportamiento, tales como: una reducción en la ingesta de alimentos inadecuados y un aumento en el consumo de alimentos saludables, como frutas y verduras.Estudos revelam que os hábitos alimentares dos adolescentes brasileiros e de suas famílias são pouco saudáveis, e que ações de promoção desenvolvidas nesta fase da vida podem favorecer a adoção de um estilo de vida mais saudável durante a fase adulta.O presente trabalho objetivou descrever o desenvolvimento e a implantação de uma intervenção educativa voltada para promoção da alimentação saudável para adolescentes e suas famílias, através de uma pesquisa qualitativa, guiada pela Pedagogia do Oprimido. A coleta de dados ocorreu através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com sete adolescentes e suas famílias, onde estas participaram de quatro encontros para intervenção e avaliação de uma ação educativa. A análise do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo evidenciou duas temáticas, uma relacionada ao consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados e outra sobre a percepção dos adolescentes e famílias após a ação de promoção da saúde.
