Spatial analysis of hotspots in the municipality of São Félix do Xingu, State of Pará, Brazil

Resumo: The use of fire by agricultural and livestock practices, anthropic activities, and deforestation are the main causes of the high rates of burning in the Amazon region, an activity that leads to environmental, biological, and even public health damages. This paper aimed to quantify and analyze the hotspots in São Félix do Xingu town, from 2009 to 2018, using National Institute for Space Research data. The data obtained from the Aqua - T satellite, with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor, was analyzed in the ArcGis 10.5 software, using the Geographic Coordinates System and SIRGAS 2000 datum, through the Kernel Density tool and Quantile Method. The methodology used made it possible to find 34,685 hot spots were found during the analyzed period, incidence peaks were observed in 2010 and 2017, and the months from July to October showed the highest incidence of burnings in São Félix do Xingu. In this way, the study proved to be relevant in the identification and analysis of hotspots in the area, which may help in the control of forest fires.

En este contexto, el objetivo del trabajo fue cuantificar y analizar los puntos calientes en el municipio de são Félix do Xingu, entre los años 2009 y 2018, utilizando datos del Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Espaciales (INPE). Con datos obtenidos del satélite Aqua-T, equipado con el sensor de Espectrorradiómetro de Imágenes de Resolución Moderada (MODIS), y analizados en el software ArcGis 10.5, utilizando el Sistema de Coordenadas Geográficas SIRGAS 2000 y el datum, mediante el proceso Kernel Density para densidad y el método Quantile Método. La metodología empleada permitió encontrar 34.685 puntos calientes en el municipio durante el período analizado, de estos, se observaron picos de incidencia en los años 2010 y 2017, y los meses de julio a octubre como el período de mayor ocurrencia. Por lo tanto, el estudio demostró ser relevante en la identificación y análisis de puntos calientes en el área, y puede ayudar a combatir e inspeccionar incendios.O uso do fogo pelas práticas agrícolas e pecuárias, as atividades antrópicas, e o desmatamento são os principais fatores pelos altos índices de focos de queimada na região amazônica, atividade que causa grandes prejuízos ambientais, biológicos, e até mesmo de saúde pública. Nesse contexto, o objetivo do trabalho foi quantificar e analisar os focos de calor no município de são Félix do Xingu, entre os anos de 2009 e 2018, utilizando dados do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE). Com dados obtidos do satélite Aqua – T, equipado com o sensor Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), e analisados no software ArcGis 10.5, utilizando o Sistema de Coordenadas Geográficas e datum SIRGAS 2000, através do processo Kernel Density para densidade e do método Quantile Method.
