Resumo: This work aimed to present a study on the importance of implementing the Military Penal Execution Regulation of the Military Police of the State of Tocantins - PMTO. The research was based on the qualitative approach in theoretical and documentary references, as well as access to quantitative data of prisoners held in the Military Police Units - UPM of the PMTO in the year 2019. The bibliographic and documentary research demanded the methodology of scientific work, with focus on the analysis of general aspects and concepts of Military Penal Execution. In addition, there were different doctrinal understandings regarding the application of the Penal Execution Law - LEP in Military Justice. Based on the above, data and information were listed, institutional deficiencies were analyzed and discussed, and the implementation of the Military Penal Execution Regulation was proposed as a legal mechanism to control the discipline of military and common prisoners who are in custody under the of PMTO Prison Units.

La investigación se basó en el enfoque cualitativo en referencias teóricas y documentales, así como el acceso a datos cuantitativos de los reclusos recluidos en las Unidades de Policía Militar - UPM de la PMTO en el año 2019. La investigación bibliográfica y documental demandó la metodología de trabajo científico, con foco en el análisis de aspectos generales y conceptos de la Ejecución Penal Militar. Además, hubo diferentes entendimientos doctrinarios en cuanto a la aplicación de la Ley de Ejecuciones Penales - LEP en la Justicia Militar. Con base en lo anterior, se enumeraron datos e información, se analizaron y discutieron las deficiencias institucionales y se propuso la implementación del Reglamento de Ejecución Penal Militar como mecanismo legal para controlar la disciplina de los militares y presos comunes que se encuentran bajo custodia de la PMTO.Este trabalho teve como finalidade apresentar estudo sobre a importância da implantação do Regulamento de Execução Penal Militar da Polícia Militar do Estado do Tocantins - PMTO. A pesquisa pautou-se na abordagem qualitativa em referenciais teóricos e documentais, bem como acesso a dados quantitativos de presos custodiados nas Unidades Policias Militares - UPM da PMTO no ano de 2019. A pesquisa bibliográfica e a documental demandaram a metodologia de trabalho científico, com enfoque na análise dos aspectos e conceitos gerais da Execução Penal Militar. Ademais verificou-se entendimentos doutrinários diversos no tocante à aplicação da Lei de Execução Penal – LEP na Justiça Militar.
