Resumo: Introduction: Immobility Syndrome (SI) is generally considered to be a cluster of systemic changes in individuals who are experiencing prolonged immobility in the ICU. Objective: To investigate the role of physiotherapy in the intensive care unit with an emphasis on the prevention of immobility syndrome. Methodology: This is an integrative review, which searches were carried out for scientific articles in the following databases: MedLine (International Literature in Science and Health), LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Science and Health), Cochrane and PubMed. Using the terms as descriptors: Immobility Syndrome; Physiotherapy; Intensive care unit; Early Mobilization; Prevention. Results and Discussions: It was observed that the use of early mobilization protocols is effective in the preventive effect of Immobility Syndrome, avoiding physiological complications that prolonged immobilization causes in the individual. Conclusion: The physiotherapist assists in assisting the vital functions of the various anatomical systems by acting in the prevention and / or treatment of cardiopulmonary, circulatory, muscular and neurological disorders, decreasing the risk of clinical complications and mortality, improving the prognosis of the patient in a serious condition.

Research, Society and Development2020-03-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/319610.33448/rsd-v9i5.3196Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 5; e93953196Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 5; e93953196Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 5; e939531962525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/3196/5281Copyright (c) 2020 Djavan Gomes Leite, Weslley Barbosa Sales, Renata Ramos Tomaz, Giovanna Pontes Vidal, Giane Dantas de Macedo Freitasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLeite, Djavan GomesSales, Weslley BarbosaVidal, Giovanna PontesFreitas, Giane Dantas de MacedoTomaz, Renata Ramos2020-08-20T18:06:36Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/3196Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:27:29.155052Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
