Drainage is an essential resource for urban populations, as it is the main means of draining rainwater. This system must be elaborated, because its absence or inefficiency can cause social problems such as floods, floods, increased transmission of pathologies, material losses and deaths. The management of this drainage in most Brazilian municipalities still does not receive due importance by managers, as there is no specific planning for the sector. There are isolated initiatives in some cities to promote the regulation of urban drainage in relation to regulations on land use and occupation. With the demand gradually more accentuated by the effects of urbanization, it is necessary to assess whether the sizing methods and data used for the drainage network are compatible with the current needs of cities. The objective of this work is to inform possible solutions to the problems related to urban drainage, since the population is subject to several disorders, which mainly interfere in their safety and quality of life.
