Resumo: In dairy cattle farming there are different breeding systems, which can influence the thermal comfort of the animals. The cattle, in turn, have mechanisms of thermal regulation to maintain homeostasis and a zone of thermoneutrality. However, these animals have significant sensitivity to solar radiation and have thermoneutral zones with lower temperatures than most Brazilian regions. This fact has had a great impact on the dairy economy due to the negative effects on the welfare, production, reproduction and behavioral changes of dairy cows, in addition to affecting the entire production chain, from gestation, growth of calves and reproduction of males. Thus, the present bibliographic review aims to analyze the effects of thermal stress on the different aspects of dairy cattle, showing how harmful it can be.

El ganado, a su vez, tiene mecanismos de regulación térmica para mantener la homeostasis y una zona de termoneutralidad. Sin embargo, estos animales tienen una sensibilidad significativa a la radiación solar y tienen zonas termoneutrales con temperaturas más bajas que la mayoría de las regiones brasileñas. Este hecho ha tenido un gran impacto en la economía lechera debido a los efectos negativos sobre el bienestar, la producción, la reproducción y los cambios de comportamiento de las vacas lecheras, además de afectar a toda la cadena de producción, desde la gestación, el crecimiento de los terneros y la reproducción de los machos. Por lo tanto, la presente revisión bibliográfica tiene como objetivo analizar los efectos del estrés térmico en los diferentes aspectos del ganado lechero, mostrando cuán dañino puede ser.Na bovinocultura leiteira existem diferentes sistemas de criação, os quais podem influenciar no conforto térmico dos animais. Os bovinos, por sua vez, têm mecanismos de regulação térmica para manter a homeostase e uma zona de termoneutralidade. Entretanto, esses animais têm significativa sensibilidade à radiação solar e apresentam zonas termoneutras com temperaturas mais baixas do que a maioria das regiões brasileiras. Tal fato tem provocado grande impacto na economia leiteira devido aos efeitos negativos sobre o bem-estar, produção, reprodução e mudanças comportamentais das vacas leiteiras, além de afetar toda cadeia produtiva, desde a gestação, crescimento de bezerras e reprodução de machos.
