Emergency remote teaching in times of a pandemic: Reality X Utopia

Resumo: | The Present study aims to analyze the learning and mastery of educational technological tools by students and teachers in the remote teaching modality, during the new corona virus pandemic in a public school in Manaus-AM. Methodology: The descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, developed in the years 2020 and 2021, with a population of 1396 and a sample (N) 158 participants, divided between 103 students and 55 teachers from the Ruy Alencar State School, located in the city of Manaus -AM. A semi-structured electronic form containing open and closed questions was used in order to assess the socioeconomic and demographic issues of the actors. Results: Remote Teaching is being developed through online platforms such as Google Teams, Google Meet, Google Classroom and Zoom. With these technological educational resources, assessments, activities and interactive classes are carried out. Teachers are not satisfied with the functionality of the platforms, finding it difficult to explore these resources due to the fact that their academic training has not fully contemplated this knowledge, requiring greater professional qualification. The changes in the school routine brought work overload due to the intensity of the activities developed. As for students, most of them experience difficulties in using the aforementioned platforms, others do not have access to Technologies due to socioeconomic issues and a portion is dissatisfied with internet access. The precariousness of access to technological means due to socioeconomic issues and the difficulties inherent to internet signal providers has caused losses in the learning process, causing damage to student teaching and learning. |

Metodología: Investigación descriptiva, con enfoque cuantitativo, realizada en los años 2020 y 2021, con una población de 1.396 y una muestra (N) de 158 participantes, distribuidos en 103 estudiantes y 55 docentes de la Escuela Estadual Ruy Alencar, ubicada en la ciudad de Manaus- AM Se utilizó un formulario electrónico semiestructurado con preguntas abiertas y fechadas para evaluar los problemas socioeconómicos y demográficos de los dos actores. Resultados: La Enseñanza Remota se desarrolla a través de plataformas en línea como Google Teams, Google Meet, Google Classroom y Zoom. Con estos recursos educativos tecnológicos, se dispone de evaluaciones, actividades y aulas interactivas. Los docentes no están satisfechos con la funcionalidad de las plataformas, encontrando dificultad para explorar estos recursos, ya que su formación académica no cubrió en su totalidad estos conocimientos, exigiendo una mayor cualificación profesional. Los cambios en la rutina escolar provocaron una sobrecarga de trabajo debido a la intensidad de las actividades realizadas. Muchos de los estudiantes, algunos de ellos, tienen dificultades en el uso de estas plataformas, otros no tienen acceso a las tecnologías por razones socioeconómicas y una trama contra la insatisfacción con el acceso a Internet. La precariedad de acceso a los medios tecnológicos por razones socioeconómicas y las dificultades inherentes a los proveedores de servicios de Internet ocasionaron pérdidas en el proceso de aprendizaje, ocasionando perjuicios en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de alumnos.O Presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o aprendizado e o domínio das ferramentas tecnológicas educacionais por alunos e professores na modalidade ensino remoto, durante a pandemia do novo corona vírus em uma escola pública de Manaus-AM. Metodologia: A pesquisa do tipo descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa, elaborada nos anos de 2020 e 2021, com população de 1396 e amostra (N) 158 participantes, divididos entre 103 alunos e 55 professores da Escola Estadual Ruy Alencar, localizada na cidade de Manaus-AM. Foi utilizado um formulário eletrônico semiestruturado contendo questões abertas e fechadas com objetivo de avaliar questões socioeconômicas e demográficas dos atores. Resultados: o Ensino Remoto está sendo desenvolvido por meio de plataformas on-line como Google Teams, Google Meet, Google Classroom e Zoom. Com esses recursos educacionais tecnológicos são feitas avaliações, atividades e aulas interativas. Os professores não estão satisfeitos com a funcionalidade das plataformas, sentindo dificuldades para explorar esses recursos devido ao fato de sua formação acadêmica não ter contemplado plenamente esses saberes, exigindo maior qualificação profissional. As mudanças da rotina escolar trouxeram sobrecarga de trabalho devido à intensidade das atividades desenvolvidas. Quanto aos alunos, boa parte deles, sentem dificuldades na utilização das plataformas mencionadas, outros não possuem acesso as tecnologias devido a questões socioeconômicas e uma parcela encontra-se insatisfeitos com o acesso à internet.
