Resumo: | Objetcive: to analyze the evolution of endemic leprosy in the State of Sergipe during the period from 2011 to 2015. Method: this is an epidemiological study, of a descriptive nature, with a quantitative approach involving patients diagnosed with leprosy in the State of Sergipe. The data were obtained by consulting the Notifiable Diseases Information System, provided by the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System. Results: a total of 2,032 new cases were reported, of which (50.12%) were women and (49.88%) were men. The age group between 35 and 49 years was the most affected. There was a predominance of the multibacillary form (70.2%) and disability grade 0 assessed in the diagnosis and in the assessment of cure, in all the years evaluated. Despite the trend towards a reduction in general detection, the dynamics of transmission in the State are maintained, in addition to signaling a late diagnosis. Concllusion: the frequency of multibacillary cases, the annual fluctuation in detection and prevalence and in children under 15 years old refer to a fragility in the control of the disease by the health service. |
