Analyze of persistence and school dropout in Youth and Adult Education: A case study in the Municipality of Castanhal-Pará

Resumo: | Youth and Adult Education (EJA) is a specific modality of Basic Education aimed at the school inclusion of a public that was excluded from education during their childhood or adolescence. In this perspective, a study was developed whose objective is to identify the factors that contribute to the persistence and school dropout of students from EJA in the northeast, Castanhal-PA and propose actions for the permanence of EJA students. The locus of the research consisted of three municipal schools located in peripheral neighborhoods, which also have students from the countryside. The research was qualitative and quantitative, carried out with students, teachers, managers and education specialists. Quantitative data were acquired through on-site research and qualitative data through interviews and socioeconomic questionnaires. Among the predicted variables of the reason for the evasion of EJA students at school, low marks stand out, lack of interest, illness, work, among others; the variables diagnosed as the reason for the persistence of these students, among others, were: learning to read and write, developing the ability to solve problem situations and the search for professional qualification. It was found that social variables have a significant impact on students' persistence and / or dropout. |

En esta perspectiva, se desarrolló un estudio cuyo objetivo es identificar los factores que contribuyen a la persistencia y el abandono escolar de los estudiantes de EJA en el noreste, Castanhal-PA y proponer acciones para la permanencia de los estudiantes de EJA. El lugar de la investigación consistió en tres escuelas municipales ubicadas en barrios periféricos, que también tienen estudiantes del campo. La investigación fue cualitativa y cuantitativa, realizada con estudiantes, docentes, gerentes y especialistas en educación. Los datos cuantitativos se obtuvieron a través de la investigación in situ y los datos cualitativos a través de entrevistas y cuestionarios socioeconómicos. Entre las variables predichas de la razón de la evasión de los estudiantes de EJA en la escuela, destacan las bajas calificaciones, la falta de interés, la enfermedad, el trabajo, entre otros; Las variables diagnosticadas como la razón de la persistencia de estos estudiantes, entre otras, fueron: aprender a leer y escribir, desarrollar la capacidad de resolver situaciones problemáticas y buscar la calificación profesional. Se encontró que las variables sociales tienen un impacto significativo en la persistencia y / o deserción de los estudiantes.A Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) é uma modalidade específica da Educação Básica destinada à inclusão escolar de um público que foi excluído da educação durante sua infância ou adolescência. Nessa perspectiva, elaborou-se um estudo cujo objetivo consiste identificar os fatores que contribuem para a persistência e evasão escolar dos estudantes da EJA no nordeste, Castanhal-PA e propor ações para permanência dos estudantes da EJA. O lócus da pesquisa consistiu, em três escolas municipais situadas em bairros periféricos, que possuem também estudantes da zona rural. A pesquisa foi qualitativa e quantitativa, realizada com estudantes, professores, gestores e especialistas em educação. Os dados quantitativos foram adquiridos através de pesquisa in loco e os qualitativos por meio de entrevistas e questionários socioeconômicos. Dentre as variáveis prognosticadas do motivo da evasão dos estudantes da EJA na escola destacam-se as notas baixas, falta de interesse, doença, trabalho, entre outras; as variáveis diagnosticadas do motivo da persistência desses estudantes, dentre outras, foram: aprendizagem da leitura e escrita, desenvolvimento da habilidade em resolver situações-problema e a busca pela qualificação profissional.
