Experience of nursing resident students in coping with Covid-19

Resumo: Introduction: This study aimed to understand the feelings experienced by lato sensu graduate students, in the nursing residency modality, during the period in which they exercised their activities during the Covid-19 pandemic and the confrontation of the imposed social distance. Methodology: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach, 59 nursing graduate students participated in the research in the residence molds. Results: According to age, participants in the 20 to 30 age group were the ones who had the highest participation with 41 responses. The predominant complaint among the participants was physical fatigue and excessive sleep, with 78% and 48%, respectively. Another relevant data is that 14% of the participants started to use psychotropic drugs after the beginning of the pandemic. Despite the family support that residents received, 24% of respondents chose to move away from their families for fear of transmitting Covid-19 and 20% reported that they are questioned in their social cycle regarding their responsibility to be a vector of the disease, since they are in direct contact with it. Conclusion: The Covid-19 pandemic physically and mentally affected nursing residents so that they felt psychically shaken, unmotivated, tired and overwhelmed in the face of the scenario experienced. Social distancing and the absence of family contact also corroborated the emotional suffering, in many responses the residents showed lack of motivation to update themselves in the practices of coping with Covid-19 and the questions pertinent to the residence.

Metodología: Estudio descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo, 59 estudiantes de posgrado en enfermería participaron de la investigación en la residencia moldes. Resultados: Según la edad, los participantes del grupo de 20 a 30 años fueron los que tuvieron mayor participación con 41 respuestas. La queja predominante entre los participantes fue el cansancio físico y el exceso de sueño, con 78% y 48%, respectivamente. Otro dato relevante es que el 14% de los participantes comenzaron a consumir psicotrópicos después del inicio de la pandemia. A pesar del apoyo familiar que recibieron los pobladores, el 24% de los encuestados optó por alejarse de sus familias por temor a transmitir el Covid-19 y el 20% informó que en su ciclo social son cuestionados sobre su responsabilidad de ser vector de la enfermedad, ya que están en contacto directo con él. Conclusión: La pandemia de Covid-19 afectó física y mentalmente a los residentes de enfermería de manera que se sintieron psíquicamente sacudidos, desmotivados, cansados ​​y desbordados ante el escenario vivido. El distanciamiento social y la ausencia de contacto familiar también corroboraron el sufrimiento emocional, en muchas respuestas los residentes mostraron falta de motivación para actualizarse en las prácticas de enfrentamiento al Covid-19 y las cuestiones pertinentes a la residencia.Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo compreender os sentimentos vivenciados por alunos de pós-graduação lato sensu, na modalidade residência em enfermagem, durante o período em que exerciam suas atividades no decorrer da pandemia da Covid-19 e o enfrentamento do distanciamento social imposto. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa. Participaram da pesquisa 59 alunos de pós-graduação em enfermagem nos moldes de residência Resultados: De acordo com a idade, os participantes na faixa etária de 20 a 30 anos foram os que tiveram maior participação, com 41 respostas. A queixa predominante entre os participantes foi o cansaço físico e excesso de sono, com 78% e 48%, respectivamente. Outro dado relevante é que 14% dos participantes passaram a fazer uso de psicotrópicos após o início da pandemia. 24% dos entrevistados optaram por se afastar de seus familiares por medo de transmitir o Covid-19 e 20% relataram que sofrem questionamentos de seu ciclo social quanto a sua responsabilidade em ser um vetor da doença, visto que encontraram-se em contato direto com a mesma. Conclusão: A pandemia da Covid-19 afetou de maneira física e mentalmente os residentes de enfermagem de modo que se sentiram psiquicamente abalados, desmotivados, cansados e sobrecarregados diante do cenário vivenciado. O distanciamento social e a ausência de contato familiar também corroboraram com o sofrimento emocional.
