The production of space and socio-environmental relations in the Middle Juruá: the construction of another governance

Resumo: This article aimed to analyze the space production in the Middle Juruá territory from the governance of social organizations that work in the sociobiodiversity chains in the region. The episteme used in this study was the production of space. The study was carried out from a bibliographic survey on the region, documental and field research data collection with the main actors of the region. The Middle Juruá territory is marked by a history of workers oppression in the rubber economic cycles, but also by a process of struggles and social constructions that changed the form of social and environmental relations in the region. This process triggered the creation of two conservation units for sustainable use: RESEX of Middle Juruá and RDS Uacari. The socio-bio-diversity chains represent an important tool for the region sustainability, generating income and guaranteeing improvements to the quality of life. The empowerment process for the creation of social organizations was a precursor in the production of space in the Middle Juruá and in the sustainable use of the region's natural resources.

La episteme utilizada en este estudio fue la producción del espacio. El estudio se realizó a partir de un levantamiento bibliográfico sobre la región, investigación documental y recolección de datos de campo con los actores de la región. El territorio del Medio Juruá está marcado por una historia de opresión de los trabajadores en los ciclos económicos del caucho, pero también por un proceso de luchas y construcciones sociales que cambiaron la forma de las relaciones sociales y ambientales en la región. Este proceso desencadenó la creación de los unidades de conservación para uso sostenible: RESEX del Médio Juruá y RDS Uacari. Las cadenas de socio-bio-diversidad representan una herramienta importante para la sostenibilidad de la región, generando ingresos y garantizando mejoras en la calidad de vida. El proceso de empoderamiento para la creación de organizaciones sociales fue un precursor en la producción del espacio en el Medio Juruá y en el uso sostenible de los recursos naturales de la región.O presente artigo teve como objetivo analisar a produção do espaço no território do Médio Juruá a partir da governança das organizações sociais que atuam nas cadeias da sociobiodiversidade na região. A episteme utilizada nesse estudo foi a produção do espaço. O estudo foi realizado a partir de levantamento bibliográfico sobre a região, pesquisa documental e coleta de dados em campo com os atores da região. O território do Médio Juruá é marcado por uma história de opressão dos trabalhadores dos ciclos econômicos da borracha, mas também por um processo de lutas e construções sociais que mudaram a forma das relações sociais e ambientais da região. Esse processo desencadeou a criação de duas unidades de conservação de uso sustentável: RESEX do Médio Juruá e RDS Uacari. As cadeias da sociobiodiversidade representam uma importante ferramenta para a sustentabilidade da região, gerando renda e garantindo melhorias para a qualidade de vida.
