Resumo: Objective: To establish the epidemiological characteristics and predictive factors of lethality of victims of severe TBI, admitted to the ICU of a Reference Hospital in the State of Piauí, during the period from January 2014 to December 2014. Methodology: is a descriptive and retrospective study. Data will be collected through medical records and noted in a standardized form. Results: The data analyzed showed young male adults, about 88.5%. There was a higher prevalence of severe TBI (18.4%), due to the research scenario: the intensive care environment. Motorcycle accidents were the main cause of TBI (75.9%). Regarding tomographic findings on ICU admission, there was a predominance of Extradural Hematoma (HED), followed by Acute Subdural Hematoma (HSDA). Conclusion: The research showed that the predictors of lethality in this population were mechanical ventilation time and blood transfusion.

Research, Society and Development2020-01-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/165810.33448/rsd-v9i1.1658Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 1; e86911658Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 1; e86911658Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 1; e869116582525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/1658/1472Copyright (c) 2019 Francisco das Chagas Araújo Sousa, Luis Eurípedes Almondes Santana Lemos, Diogenes Monteiro Reis, Erika Vicencia Monteiro Pessoa, Natalia Monteiro Pessoa, Luis Alberto de Sousa Rodriguesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSousa, Francisco das Chagas AraújoSoares, Hiago Veras AraújoLemos, Luis Eurípedes Almondes SantanaReis, Diógenes MonteiroSilva, Wenderson Costa daRodrigues, Luis Alberto de Sousa2020-08-19T03:04:08Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/1658Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:26:35.742043Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
