Resumo: Objective: To know which strategies are used by professionals to encourage exclusive breastfeeding. Method: qualitative research, exploratory descriptive, carried out with nine active participants in a Family Health Strategy team, in a city in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. Semi-structured interviews were recorded and transcribed. The treatment of the data carried out through the discourse analysis proposed by Minayo. Results: according to the report, three categories emerged: Strategies used to promote breastfeeding in the Family Health Strategy; The power of breastfeeding in the view of health professionals and Challenge for exclusive breastfeeding: from technique to health education. Final considerations: evidenced the need to enhance the care for pregnant women and nursing mothers regarding health education, contemplating the management in face of the challenges imposed by breastfeeding.

Método: investigación cualitativa, descriptiva exploratoria, realizada con nueve participantes que trabajan en un equipo de Estrategia de Salud Familiar, en una ciudad en la región central de Rio Grande do Sul. Se grabaron y transcribieron entrevistas semiestructuradas. El tratamiento de los datos realizado a través del análisis del discurso propuesto por Minayo. Resultados: según el informe, surgieron tres categorías: estrategias utilizadas para promover la lactancia materna en la Estrategia de salud familiar; El poder de la lactancia materna desde el punto de vista de los profesionales de la salud y el desafío de la lactancia materna exclusiva: de la técnica a la educación sanitaria. Las consideraciones finales: mostraron la necesidad de mejorar la atención de las mujeres embarazadas y las madres lactantes con respecto a la educación sanitaria, contemplando el manejo frente a los desafíos impuestos por la lactancia materna.Objetivo: Conhecer quais as estratégias utilizadas pelos profissionais para o incentivo do aleitamento materno exclusivo. Método: pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, descritiva exploratória, realizada com nove participantes atuantes em uma equipe de Estratégia Saúde da Família, em município da região central do Rio Grande do Sul. Realizou-se entrevista semiestruturada gravadas e transcritas. O tratamento dos dados  foi efetivado por meio da análise de discurso proposto por Minayo. Resultados: conforme relato emergiram três categorias: Estratégias utilizadas para promover o aleitamento materno na Estratégia Saúde da Família; A potência do aleitamento materno na visão dos profissionais de saúde e Desafio para a amamentação exclusiva: da técnica a educação em saúde.
