Using profile of pysicotropic medicines distributed by public pharmacies during the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: Introduction: COVID-19 brought with it several consequences, among them the increase in cases of mental health disorders, and also the pattern of consumption of psychotropic drugs by the population. Objective: to analyze possible changes in the consumption of psychotropic drugs used before and during the pandemic in family pharmacies in the city of Vitória da Conquista - Bahia, as well as the profile of the population that used it during the aforementioned periods. Materials and Methods: this is a cross-sectional study of a quantitative nature. The study data were obtained through the HORUS system - National Pharmaceutical Assistance Management System, where a survey was carried out on the number of patients who used psychotropic drugs in the years 2018, mid-2020 and until December 2021. general characteristics such as sex, age, as well as the origin of the prescriptions were evaluated. Results: There was a high number of prescriptions in the period collected, the majority from the SUS (n=86731, r=86.8%). The most prevalent drugs were fluoxetine (16.3%), Clonazepam (16.3%), Carbamazepine (15.5%) and Risperidone (11.5%). Regarding gender, 57.7% of prescriptions were directed to female patients, with a middle age of 49.7 years (±16.1 years) and males: 42.8 years (±18.6 years) . There was a statistically significant association with increased use of fluoxetine among women during the pandemic. Final considerations: It was found that there was a significant increase in the demand for psychotropic drugs during the pandemic, especially among female patients.

Objetivo: analizar posibles cambios en el consumo de psicofármacos utilizados antes y durante la pandemia en farmacias familiares del municipio de Vitória da Conquista - Bahia, así como el perfil de la población que lo utilizó durante los mencionados períodos. Materiales y Métodos: se trata de un estudio transversal de carácter cuantitativo. Los datos del estudio se obtuvieron a través del sistema HORUS - Sistema Nacional de Gestión de Asistencia Farmacéutica, donde se realizó una encuesta sobre el número de pacientes que consumieron psicofármacos en los años 2018, mediados de 2020 y hasta diciembre de 2021. Características generales como sexo, se evaluó la edad, así como el origen de las prescripciones. Resultados: Hubo un elevado número de recetas en el período recolectado, la mayoría del SUS (n=86731, r=86,8%). Los fármacos más prevalentes fueron fluoxetina (16,3%), clonazepam (16,3%), carbamazepina (15,5%) y risperidona (11,5%). En cuanto al sexo, el 57,7% de las prescripciones fueron dirigidas a pacientes del sexo femenino, con una edad media de 49,7 años (±16,1 años) y del sexo masculino: 42,8 años (±18,6 años) . Hubo una asociación estadísticamente significativa con un mayor uso de fluoxetina entre las mujeres durante la pandemia. Consideraciones finales: Se encontró que hubo un aumento significativo en la demanda de psicofármacos durante la pandemia, especialmente entre pacientes del sexo femenino.Introdução: A COVID-19 trouxe consigo diversas consequências, dentre elas o aumento de casos de transtornos relacionados à saúde mental, e também o padrão de consumo de medicamentos psicotrópicos pela população. Objetivo: analisar possíveis alterações no consumo de medicamentos psicotrópicos utilizados antes e durante a pandemia nas farmácias da família no município de Vitória da Conquista – Bahia, assim como o perfil da população que fez uso durante os períodos supracitados. Materiais e Métodos: trata-se de um estudo de corte transversal de natureza quantitativa. Os dados do estudo foram obtidos por meio do sistema HÓRUS - Sistema Nacional de Gestão da Assistência Farmacêutica, onde foi realizado o levantamento da quantidade de pacientes que fizeram a utilização de psicotrópicos nos anos de 2018, meados de 2020 e até dezembro de 2021. Foram avaliadas características gerais como sexo, idade, bem como a origem das prescrições. Resultados: Verificou-se um número elevado de prescrições no período coletado, sendo a maioria provenientes do SUS (n=86731, r=86,8%). Os medicamentos mais prevalentes foram fluoxetina (16,3%), Clonazepam (16,3%), Carbamazepina (15,5%) e Risperidona (11,5%). Em relação ao sexo, 57,7% das prescrições eram direcionadas a pacientes do sexo feminino, com idade média de 49,7 anos (±16,1 anos) e do sexo masculino: 42,8 anos (±18,6 anos). Verificou-se uma associação estatisticamente significativa com o aumento da utilização de fluoxetina entre mulheres durante a pandemia.
