Eating habits of elementary school children - A field survey

Resumo: | The study aimed to address the importance of healthy eating with children in the early grades of a public school in the city of Dois Vizinhos-PR. The activity was initially carried out with the application of a questionnaire seeking to analyze the students' prior knowledge and, afterwards, a lecture on food, exposing with the aid of the food pyramid the variety and quantity that should be ingested for each type of food. Soon after, educational videos were shown, and recreational activities were applied in order to promote the perception of the importance of consuming nutritious foods for a good quality of life. Through the results it was found that in general students understand the concept of healthy eating satisfactorily, however a portion of students does not reflect this perception in practice, with low fruit intake and high consumption of sweets. It is important to guide children to the practice of healthy eating, and playful activities can be a good instrument for addressing the topic with elementary school students. |

La actividad se realizó inicialmente con la aplicación de un cuestionario que buscaba analizar los conocimientos previos de los estudiantes y, luego, una conferencia sobre alimentos, exponiendo con la ayuda de la pirámide alimenticia la variedad y cantidad que se debería ingerir para cada tipo de alimento. Poco después, se mostraron videos educativos y se aplicaron actividades recreativas para promover la percepción de la importancia de consumir alimentos nutritivos para una buena calidad de vida. A través de los resultados se encontró que, en general, los estudiantes entienden el concepto de alimentación saludable de manera satisfactoria, sin embargo, una parte de los estudiantes no refleja esta percepción en la práctica, con una baja ingesta de frutas y un alto consumo de dulces. Es importante guiar a los niños a la práctica de una alimentación saludable, y las actividades lúdicas pueden ser un buen instrumento para abordar el tema con los estudiantes de primaria.O estudo teve por objetivo abordar a importância da alimentação saudável com crianças das séries iniciais de uma escola da rede pública no município de Dois Vizinhos-PR. A atividade foi inicialmente realizada com a aplicação de um questionário buscando analisar o conhecimento prévio dos estudantes e, em seguida proferida uma palestra sobre alimentos, expondo com auxílio da pirâmide alimentar a variedade e quantidade que deve ser ingerida de cada tipo de alimento. Logo após foram exibidos vídeos educativos e aplicadas atividades lúdicas com intuito de promover a percepção sobre a importância do consumo de alimentos nutritivos para uma boa qualidade de vida. Por meio dos resultados verificou-se que de modo geral os alunos compreendem satisfatoriamente o conceito de alimentação saudável, contudo uma parcela dos escolares não reflete esta percepção na prática, com baixa ingestão de frutas e elevado consumo de guloseimas.
