Sexual behavior of adolescents from Rio Grande do Sul according to the National School Health Survey (PeNSE)

Resumo: Objective: To analyze the characteristics of sexual behavior of adolescents from public and private schools in the city of Porto Alegre, according to PENSE conducted in 2015. Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, which used secondary data of a national survey of 9th grade elementary school students from public and private schools in the city of Porto Alegre who participated in PeNSE, held in 2015. Results: Of the 1011 participants, 465 are male (54.0%) ; 40.6% (n = 410) stated that they had had sexual intercourse and the majority reported having started sexual life at the age of 14 (151; 37.2%). As for sexual behavior, boys reported beginning their sexual life earlier, when compared to girls, and reported not knowing whether or not they used any method to prevent pregnancy. Conclusions: It is concluded that primary care health professionals should pay special attention to male adolescents, as they have early sexual initiation and a greater number of partners.

Método: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, transversal con enfoque cuantitativo, que utilizó datos secundarios. de una encuesta nacional a estudiantes de 9 ° grado de primaria de escuelas públicas y privadas de la ciudad de Porto Alegre que participaron en PeNSE, realizada en 2015. Resultados: De los 1011 participantes, 465 son hombres (54,0%); El 40,6% (n = 410) afirmó haber tenido relaciones sexuales y la mayoría informó haber iniciado la vida sexual a los 14 años (151; 37,2%). Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal, com abordagem quantitativa, que utilizou dados secundários de um inquérito nacional de escolares do 9º ano do ensino fundamental de escolas públicas e privadas do município de Porto Alegre que participaram da PeNSE, realizada no ano de 2015. Resultados: Dos 1011 participantes, 465 são do sexo masculino (54,0%); 40,6% (n=410) afirmaram ter tido relação sexual e a maioria refere ter iniciado a vida sexual com 14 anos (151; 37,2%). Quanto ao comportamento sexual, os meninos relataram começar a vida sexual mais cedo, quando comparado com as meninas, e referem não saber se usaram ou não algum método para evitar a gravidez.
