Teachers' perception of bullying at school: implications for nursing practice

Resumo: Bullying is a type of violent behavior that can be expressed in different ways, that is, through intentional, aggressive and repetitive attitudes adopted by one or more students against others who are unable to defend themselves. The study aimed to know the perception of elementary school teachers about bullying at school. A descriptive and exploratory qualitative research was carried out. Twelve elementary school teachers from a municipal school in a municipality in southern Brazil participated. Data were collected through interviews and submitted to Content Analysis. Data were obtained about the teachers' perception about Bullying, the teachers' experiences with Bullying, the teachers' actions in the face of Bullying, the teachers' preparation to act in the face of Bullying, the teachers' perception of the causes that lead the aggressor to commit Bullying, the consequences of Bullying in the teacher's perception, the role of the school in the face of Bullying in the teacher's perception and the role of the family in the face of Bullying in the teacher's perception. It was concluded that Bullying is a reality in schools. In this sense, teachers, school agents and families need to be guided on how to act to prevent and curb this type of action. School health nurses need to work with students, parents, teachers and school staff about what Bullying is and its consequences, and offer subsidies so that they can identify its signs and ways of approaching victims and aggressors.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer la percepción de los profesores de la escuela primaria sobre el acoso escolar. Se realizó una investigación cualitativa descriptiva y exploratoria. Participaron 12 profesores de primaria de una escuela municipal de un municipio del sur de Brasil. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas y enviados al Análisis de Contenido. Se obtuvieron datos sobre la percepción de los docentes sobre el Bullying, las experiencias de los docentes con el Bullying, las acciones de los docentes frente al Bullying, la preparación de los docentes para actuar frente al Bullying, la percepción de los docentes sobre las causas que provocan el agresor a cometer Bullying, las consecuencias del Bullying en la percepción del docente, el rol de la escuela frente al Bullying en la percepción del docente y el rol de la familia frente al Bullying en la percepción del docente. Se concluyó que el Bullying es una realidad en las escuelas. En este sentido, es necesario orientar a docentes, agentes escolares y familias sobre cómo actuar para prevenir y frenar este tipo de actuaciones. Las enfermeras de salud escolar necesitan trabajar con estudiantes, padres, profesores y personal de la escuela sobre qué es el Bullying y sus consecuencias, y ofrecer subsidios para que puedan identificar sus signos y formas de acercarse a las víctimas y agresores.O bullying é um tipo de comportamento violento podendo ser expresso de diferentes modos, ou seja, por meio de atitudes intencionais, agressivas e repetitivas adotadas por um ou mais alunos contra outros impossibilitados de se defender. O estudo objetivou conhecer a percepção de professores do ensino fundamental acerca do bullying na escola. Foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva e exploratória de natureza qualitativa. Participaram 12 professores do ensino fundamental de uma escola municipal de um município do sul do Brasil. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas e submetidos à Análise de Conteúdo. Obtiveram-se dados acerca da percepção dos professores acerca do Bullying, das vivências dos professores com o Bullying, das ação dos professores frente ao Bullying, do preparo dos professores para atuarem frente ao Bullying, da percepção dos professores acerca das causas que levam o agressor a cometer o Bullying, das consequências do Bullying na percepção do professor, do papel da escola frente ao Bullying na percepção do professor e  do papel da família frente ao Bullying na percepção do professor. Concluiu-se que o Bullying é uma realidade nas escolas. Nesse sentido, professores, agentes escolares e famílias precisam ser orientados sobre como agir para prevenir e coibir esse tipo de ação.
