The conceptual dimension of social representations of healthcare professionals on neglected diseases

Resumo: | Objective: To analyze the conceptual dimension of social representations of neglected diseases for health professionals. Method: This is a study with a qualitative approach, supported by the Theory of Social Representations, developed in primary and secondary care units in a municipality in the interior of Bahia, Brazil, with health professionals. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and submitted to lexical analysis using the IRAMUTEQ software. Results: Health professionals were divided into three categories: nurses (09); nursing technicians (09) and doctors (09); mostly 85.5% were female, aged between 26 and 69 years. The study focuses on the discussion of axis 1 called Concepts, Knowledge and Contexts of Neglected Diseases. Discussion: The content of health professionals' social representations about neglected diseases constitutes a conceptual dimension that encompassed concepts, characteristics and causes of these diseases, supporting the idea of contagion and transmissibility of these diseases, strengthening neglect, prejudice and lack of interest since the individual to the collective rooting the culture of neglect the populations with greater social vulnerability. Conclusion: The conceptual dimension of the social representations of health professionals about neglected diseases provided the construction of their definitions and causes closely linked to social conditions, individual perceptions and government practices that together make up a structured base on the perpetuation of these diseases, including social weaknesses, such as the lack of basic knowledge of healthy habits, social neglect, both of the health team and managers. |

Resultados: los profesionales de la salud se dividieron en tres categorías: enfermeras (09); técnicos de enfermería (09) y médicos (09); en su mayoría, el 85,5% eran mujeres, con edades comprendidas entre los 26 y los 69 años. El estudio se centra en la discusión del eje 1 denominado Conceptos, conocimientos y contextos de las enfermedades desatendidas. Discusión: El contenido de las representaciones sociales de los profesionales de la salud sobre las enfermedades desatendidas constituye una dimensión conceptual que engloba conceptos, características y causas de estas enfermedades, apoyando la idea de contagio y transmisibilidad de estas enfermedades, fortaleciendo el abandono, el prejuicio y el desinterés desde del individuo al colectivo arraigando la cultura del descuido a las poblaciones con mayor vulnerabilidad social. Conclusión: La dimensión conceptual de las representaciones sociales de los profesionales de la salud sobre las enfermedades desatendidas brindó la construcción de sus definiciones y causas estrechamente vinculadas a las condiciones sociales, las percepciones individuales y las prácticas gubernamentales que en conjunto conforman una base estructurada sobre la perpetuación de estas enfermedades, incluidas las sociales. debilidades, como la falta de conocimientos básicos sobre hábitos saludables, el abandono social, tanto del equipo de salud como de los gestores.Objetivo: Analisar a dimensão conceitual das representações sociais das doenças negligenciadas para profissionais de saúde. Método: Trata-se de um estudo de abordagem qualitativa, apoiado na Teoria das Representações Sociais, desenvolvido em unidades de atenção primária e secundária de um município do interior da Bahia, Brasil, com profissionais de saúde. Os dados foram coletados por meio da entrevista em profundidade e submetidos a análise lexical através do software IRAMUTEQ. Discussão: O conteúdo das representações sociais dos profissionais de saúde sobre as doenças negligenciadas constitui uma dimensão conceitual que abrangeu conceitos, características e causas destas enfermidades, sustentando a ideia de contágio e transmissibilidade destas enfermidades fortalecendo o negligenciamento, o preconceito e falta de interesse desde o individual até a coletividade enraizando a cultura do descaso as populações de maior vulnerabilidade social.
