Variant hemoglobin in the caian quilombola community of Creoles in the State of Paraíba, Brazil

Resumo: Among the group of excluded individuals in Brazilian society, most are still being marginalized blacks. In this group, blacks from rural areas are the most disenfranchised of new processes of social construction. The UN declared that the black communities rural remaining quilombo, called, quilombolas is today one of the most active social agents of the black population in Brazil. The production of scientific knowledge is critical to the health of the black population for that question it is necessary to include in the National Agenda of Priorities in Health Research linked to the themes of this population. This research aims to present the prevalence of sickle cell trait in one quilombola community in the state of Paraíba. Cross-sectional study where the target population was 76 in a quilombola community members identified in the state of Paraíba. The average age was 31.4 years. Female gender was 84.2% male and 15.8% of the population. The presence of four consanguineous marriages among the families studied was detected. Based on the high prevalence of sickle cell trait (17.1%) in the quilombola community studied, it is necessary and urgent continuing research in other communities in the state of Paraíba.

En este grupo, los negros rurales son los más excluidos de los nuevos procesos de construcción social. La ONU declaró que el resto de las Comunidades Rurales Negras de los quilombos, llamadas quilombolas, es hoy uno de los agentes sociales más activos de la población negra en Brasil. La producción de conocimiento científico es un tema fundamental para la salud de la población negra, por lo que es necesario incluir en la Agenda Nacional de Prioridades de Investigación los temas relacionados con la salud de esta población. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo presentar la prevalencia del rasgo drepanocítico en una comunidad quilombola del estado de Paraíba. Estudio transversal donde la población objetivo fueron 76 miembros de una comunidad quilombola identificada en el estado de Paraíba. La edad media fue de 31,4 años. El sexo femenino fue el 84,2% y el masculino el 15,8% de la población. Se detectó la presencia de 4 matrimonios consanguíneos entre las familias estudiadas. Dada la alta prevalencia del rasgo drepanocítico (17,1%) en la comunidad quilombola estudiada, es necesario y urgente continuar la investigación en las otras comunidades presentes en el estado de Paraíba. Palabras clave: hemoglobinas variantes, rasgo drepanocítico, anemia drepanocítica.Entre o grupo de indivíduos excluídos na sociedade brasileira, os mais marginalizados continuam ainda sendo os negros. Nesse grupo, os negros do meio rural são os mais alijados dos novos processos de construção social. A ONU declarou que as Comunidades Negras Rurais remanescentes de quilombos, denominados, quilombolas é hoje um dos mais ativos agentes sociais da população negra no Brasil. A produção de conhecimento científico é questão fundamental para a saúde da população negra para tanto se faz necessário incluir na Agenda Nacional de Prioridades em Pesquisa os temas vinculados à saúde desta população. Esta pesquisa objetivou apresentar a prevalência do traço falciforme em 1 comunidade quilombola no estado da Paraíba. Estudo do tipo transversal onde a população alvo foi de 76 membros em uma comunidade quilombola identificada no estado do Paraíba. A idade média foi de 31,4 anos. O sexo feminino foi 84,2% e masculino 15,8% da população. Foi detectada a presença de 4 casamentos consanguíneos entre as famílias estudadas. Tendo como base a elevada prevalência do traço falciforme (17,1%) na comunidade quilombola estudada, faz-se necessário e urgente a continuidade da pesquisa nas demais comunidades presentes no estado da Paraíba.
