The contribution of academic Nursing monitoring in clinical surgery on the student-monitor perspective

Resumo: Objective: To report experiences of nursing academics in the performance of their mentoring activities of the curricular component "Nursing in Surgical Clinics", describing contributions and work developed by monitors at a Public University of Northern Brazil. Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive study, of the experience report type, developed from the experience of students during the monitoring of the curricular component "Nursing in Surgical Clinics", which, in the undergraduation in Nursing, is offered to the 5th semester students, totalizing 200 hours of the semester load. The mentoring is divided into theoretical and practical classes. Results: It was possible to establish a greater approximation with the contents taught and obtained in the graduation course in nursing, since it is necessary to appropriate the contents and seek updates in the available literature in order to take advantage of the best possible experience that monitoring has to offer. Conclusions: The academic mentoring, stimulates the scientific and technical knowledge improvement of the student-monitor, offering him or her several clinical experiences, such as leadership in group studies, rehearsals to teaching and improvement of techniques performed in hospital practices.

Metodología: Este es un estudio cualitativo y descriptivo, del tipo de informe de experiencia, realizado a partir de la vivencia de los estudiantes en el monitoreo del seguimiento del componente curricular "Enfermería en Clínica Quirúrgica", qué, en el curso de graduación de Enfermería de la Universidad, se ofrece a estudiantes del 5° semestre, con una carga semestral de 200 horas, divididas en clases teóricas y prácticas. Resultados: Fue posible establecer una relación cerca de los contenidos enseñados y obtenidos en el currículo del curso de graduación en enfermería, ya que para ejercer el rol de estudiante-monitor, es necesario apropiarse de los contenidos y actualizaciones en las literaturas disponibles para aprovechar lo mejor posible la experiencia que el monitoreo tiene para ofrecer. Conclusión: El monitoreo académico fomenta la mejora del conocimiento técnico y científico del estudiante-monitor, ofreciendo oportunidades para diferentes experiencias, como el liderazgo en estudios grupales, preparación para docencia y la mejora de las técnicas realizadas en las prácticas hospitalarias.Objetivo: Relatar vivências de acadêmicos de enfermagem no desempenho de suas atividades de monitoria do componente curricular “Enfermagem em Clínica e Cirúrgica”, descrevendo contribuições e trabalho desenvolvido por monitores em Universidade Pública do Norte do Brasil. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo e descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, realizado a partir da vivência de discentes na monitoria do componente curricular “Enfermagem em Clínica Cirúrgica”, que, no curso de graduação em Enfermagem da Universidade, é oferecida a discentes do 5º semestre, com a carga horaria semestral de 200 horas, divididas em aulas teóricas e práticas. Resultados: Foi possível estabelecer uma aproximação maior com os conteúdos ministrados e obtidos na grade curricular do curso de graduação em enfermagem, uma vez que para exercer o papel de aluno-monitor, precisa-se apropriar dos conteúdos e buscar atualizações nas literaturas disponíveis para aproveitar a melhor experiência possível que a monitoria tem a oferecer.
