Primary care: What do medical graduates think?

Resumo: Objective: the actual research aims to evaluate the discernment and attitudes of the medical students regarding Primary Health Care. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study, with students of sixth year of the Medicine course. The material were composed by August to November 2016 with the application of a validated Likert questionnaire titled Attitudes Scale Facing Some Questions of Medical Practice, elaborated at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto, University of the State of São Paulo. Results: The information were submitted to the statistical test of Chi-square of adherence by the program Bio-Estat 5. There were 111 students participants of the study, number considered sufficient for a statistical validation. From the data analysis of the questionnaires, it was noticed that the medical students recognize the responsability of the general doctor, mainly, in the scope of the approximation of the population with the health services. Conclusion: Accordingly, it becomes evident the need for the persistence of humanized and person-centered perceptions, with a focus on stimulating preventive aspects and promoting a better quality of life in society.

Metodología: Se trata de un estudio transversal, descriptivo y analítico, con alumnos egresados del sexto año de la carrera de Medicina. Los datos fueron recolectados de agosto a noviembre de 2016 con la aplicación de un cuestionario validado tipo “Likert” titulado Escala de Actitudes hacia Algunos Temas en la Práctica Médica, desarrollado en la Facultad de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidad Estadual de São Paulo. Los datos fueron sometidos a la prueba estadística de chi-cuadrado de adherencia mediante el programa Bio-Estat 5. Resultados: participaron en el estudio 111 estudiantes graduados de medicina, número considerado suficiente para la validación estadística. A partir del análisis de los datos de los cuestionarios, se constató que los estudiantes de medicina reconocen el papel del médico generalista, especialmente en el contexto de acercar la población a los servicios de salud. Conclusión: En este sentido, se hace evidente la necesidad de la persistencia de percepciones humanizadas y centradas en el individuo, con el objetivo de estimular aspectos preventivos y promover una mejor calidad de vida en la sociedad.Objetivo: O presente estudo objetiva avaliar o discernimento e as atitudes dos concluintes do curso de Medicina a respeito da APS. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo e analítico, com estudantes concluintes do sexto ano do curso de Medicina. Os dados foram coletados de agosto a novembro de 2016 com a aplicação de um questionário do tipo “Likert” validado e intitulado Escala de Atitudes Frente a Algumas Questões da Prática Médica, elaborado na Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade do Estado de São Paulo. Os dados foram submetidos ao teste estatístico de Qui-quadrado de aderência pelo programa Bio-Estat 5. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 111 estudantes concluintes do curso de medicina, número considerado suficiente para uma validação estatística. A partir da análise dos dados dos questionários, percebeu-se que os acadêmicos de medicina reconhecem o papel do médico generalista, principalmente, no âmbito da aproximação da população com os serviços de saúde.
