Information and communication technologies for the socialization of children and adolescents with deaf and hearing disabilities: an integrative review

Resumo: The inability to acquire oral language harms the deaf individual, as it significantly interferes in relations with the world and reduces symbolic exchanges with the social environment. Some technological tools can help, expanding and favoring communication between these people. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of Information and Communication Technologies on the socialization process of deaf and hearing impaired children and adolescents. It is an integrative literature review, carried out between the months of September 2020 and January 2021, whose searches were carried out in the MEDLINE, LILACS, Web Of Science databases using the descriptors: Child; Adolescent; Hearing Impaired People; Information Technology; Socialization. After applying the filters and refinements of titles and abstracts, the final result was 11 articles that made up the corpus of analysis of this study. Two categories of analysis emerged from the analysis of the studies: “assistive technologies”, among which stand out software applications, auditory and audiovisual technologies; and the contribution of technologies to socialization, which highlighted Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as important tools for the socialization of children and adolescents, especially in the school environment. The use of technological tools constitutes a strategy for the social participation of children and adolescents in various contexts, be they in television and social media, family and school, public resources, and also in the health sector. The research showed positive social impacts resulting from the implementation of ICTs to foster the socialization of deaf and hearing impaired children and adolescents.

Algunas herramientas tecnológicas pueden ayudar, expandiendo y favoreciendo la comunicación entre estas personas. El objetivo de este estudio es investigar la influencia de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación en el proceso de socialización de niños y adolescentes sordos y con discapacidad auditiva. Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura, realizada entre los meses de septiembre de 2020 y enero de 2021, cuyas búsquedas se realizaron en las bases de datos MEDLINE, LILACS, Web Of Science utilizando los descriptores: Niño; Adolescente; Personas con discapacidad auditiva; Tecnología de la informacion; Socialización. Luego de aplicar los filtros y refinamientos de títulos y resúmenes, el resultado final fueron 11 artículos que conformaron el corpus de análisis de este estudio. Del análisis de los estudios surgieron dos categorías de análisis: “tecnologías asistenciales”, entre las que destacan las aplicaciones de software, las tecnologías auditivas y audiovisuales; y el aporte de las tecnologías a la socialización, que destacó a las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) como herramientas importantes para la socialización de niños y adolescentes, especialmente en el ámbito escolar. El uso de herramientas tecnológicas constituye una estrategia para la participación social de la niñez y adolescencia en diversos contextos, ya sea en televisión y redes sociales, familia y escuela, recursos públicos, y también en el sector salud. La investigación mostró impactos sociales positivos derivados de la implementación de las TIC para fomentar la socialización de niños y adolescentes sordos y con discapacidad auditiva.A incapacidade de adquirir a linguagem oral prejudica o indivíduo surdo, pois interfere significativamente nas relações com o mundo e reduz as trocas simbólicas com o meio social. Algumas ferramentas tecnológicas podem auxiliar, ampliando e favorecendo a comunicação entre essas as pessoas. O objetivo desse estudo é investigar a influência das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação no processo de socialização de crianças e adolescentes surdos e deficientes auditivos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, realizada entre os meses de setembro de 2020 a janeiro de 2021, cuja buscas foram realizadas nas bases MEDLINE, LILACS, Web Of Science a partir do uso dos descritores: Criança; Adolescente; Pessoas com Deficiência Auditiva; Tecnologia da Informação; Socialização. Após aplicação dos filtros e refinamentos de títulos e resumos, obteve-se como resultado final 11 artigos que compuseram o corpus de análise deste estudo. Da análise dos estudos emergiram duas categorias de análise: “tecnologias assistivas”, dentre elas destacam aplicativos de softwares, tecnologias auditivas e audiovisuais; e a contribuição das tecnologias para a socialização, que evidenciou as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) como importantes ferramentas de socialização do público infanto-juvenil, especialmente no ambiente escolar. A utilização de ferramentas tecnológicas constitui-se como estratégia para a participação social de crianças e adolescentes em vários contextos, sejam eles nas mídias televisivas e sociais, âmbito familiar e escolar, recursos públicos, e também no setor de saúde.
