Resumo: The National System of Toxic Pharmacological Information (SINITOX) shows that since 1994, the drug is the main agent causing poisoning in humans in Brazil. The severity and impact are due to factors such as dose, storage and the type of medication to which the individual is exposed, in this way non-opioid or non-narcotic analgesics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) will be addressed, highlighting the Paracetamol, Ibuprofen. Objective: to identify the causes of poisoning, analyze the consequences and preventive measures to prevent such accidents. Methodology: Bibliographic review study based on articles obtained from the electronic databases SCIELO, LILACS, MEDLINE/PUBMED, where they went through exclusion and inclusion criteria, resulting in 25 studies included. Results: it was found that the group reached with the highest rate of intoxication is children aged 1 to 4 years, and that such measures should be taken, such as guidance and correct storage. It is concluded that the medicines reach a representative index in poisoning in children, families should pay attention to the safe packaging of these medicines and it is necessary that the government implement and enforce the adoption of special packaging for child protection.
