Case study as an investigative path in Education research

Resumo: In this work we present a summary of the Case Study and its applicability in research in the area of education. It is a bibliographic mapping that was carried out during the Master's Course in Education at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). For thematic reflection, we also take into consideration the dialogues coming from the Group of Studies and Research of Investigative Practices in Mathematical Education (GEPIMat)/UFAM. Starting from this premise, we aim to present the characterization and applicability of the Case Study in Education research, specifically in Mathematics Education to investigate questions related to the continuing education of teachers who teach mathematics. Likewise, we seek to know: What is a Case Study and its applicability in research in Mathematics Education? For this, we carried out a bibliographical survey regarding the authors who elucidated the Case Study as a means to seek answers to research focused on the area of education. As a result of this survey, we highlight the theoretical contributions of Yin (2015), Ponte (2006) among others. We conclude that the information collected in this study can contribute to researchers in the Education area who intend to use this methodology in their research, particularly those focused on Mathematics Education.

Se trata de un mapeo bibliográfico que se realizó durante la Maestría en Educación de la Universidad Federal de Amazonas (UFAM). Para reflexionar sobre este tema, también tuvimos en cuenta los diálogos surgidos del Grupo de Estudios e Investigaciones sobre Prácticas Investigativas en Educación Matemática (GEPIMat)/UFAM. Partiendo de esa premisa, pretendemos presentar la caracterización y aplicabilidad del Estudio de Caso en investigaciones en Educación, específicamente en Educación Matemática, para indagar cuestiones relacionadas con la formación permanente de profesores que enseñan matemáticas. Por ello, buscamos saber: ¿Qué es un Estudio de Caso y su aplicabilidad en la investigación en Educación Matemática? Para ello, realizamos un levantamiento bibliográfico sobre autores que dilucidan el Estudio de Caso como medio para buscar respuestas a investigaciones enfocadas en el área de la educación. Como resultado de esta encuesta, destacamos los aportes teóricos de Yin (2015), Ponte (2006) entre otros. Concluimos que la información recolectada en este estudio puede contribuir a los investigadores del área de Educación que pretendan utilizar esta metodología en sus investigaciones, en particular aquellas enfocadas a la Educación Matemática.Neste trabalho apresentamos uma síntese sobre o estudo de caso e sua aplicabilidade em uma pesquisa na área de educação. Trata-se de um mapeamento bibliográfico que foi realizado durante o Curso de Mestrado em Educação na Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM). Para a reflexão dessa temática, também levamos em consideração os diálogos advindos do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas de Práticas Investigativas em Educação Matemática (GEPIMat)/UFAM. Partindo dessa premissa, objetivamos apresentar a caracterização e a aplicabilidade do estudo de caso na pesquisa em Educação, em específico na Educação Matemática para investigar questões relacionadas à formação continuada de professores que ensinam matemática. Assim sendo, buscamos saber: O que é um estudo de caso e sua aplicabilidade na pesquisa em Educação Matemática? Para tanto, realizamos um levantamento bibliográfico a respeito de autores que elucidam o estudo de caso como meio para buscar respostas a pesquisas voltadas para a área de educação.  Como resultado desse levantamento destacamos os aportes teóricos de Yin (2015), Ponte (2006) entre outros.
