Resumo: The objective was to identify the consequences of restrictions and security measures on the deaf community, as well as communication limitations and discuss the psychological impacts due to the pandemic context of COVID-19 in this community. This work is a bibliographic study with a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach, of the integrative literature review type, carried out through a search in the VHL and PUBMED databases, including works published in the last 5 years and that had been carried out with the theme addressed, excluding paid, incomplete or duplicate studies. The use of a face mask harmed the community both in terms of communication and the inability to read lips, and accessibility to information about pandemic care proved precarious and inaccessible, as well as the incipient scientific production on psychological aspects in the deaf community has been identified. Communication barriers and social isolation during the pandemic proved to be harmful for the deaf, mainly due to the need to wear a mask and the lack of knowledge of sign language by professionals working in the health area. Therefore, there is a need for continuing education aimed at teaching sign language, health professionals and the hearing population, in addition to adapting news and communication platforms that can use subtitles and interpreters.

Therefore, there is a need for continuing education aimed at teaching sign language, health professionals and the hearing population, in addition to adapting news and communication platforms that can use subtitles and interpreters.
