Sustainability in organizations: a systematic review

Resumo: This study aims to explore the sustainable practices carried out by organizations from different sectors in the last three years (2018-2021). Therefore, a systematic review was carried out, considering specific inclusion and exclusion criteria so that the most relevant studies could be selected for the discussion of the topic in question. 17 publications were selected to compose this study, most of the publications on sustainable practices in organizations came from Masters (Dissertations) (65%), with the years 2018 and 2019 with the highest number of publications, only one in 2020. In Regarding educational institutions and courses, there was no greater specific production, although the University of São Paulo (USP) has a greater number of publications. The results showed that the practices differ considering each sector in which the companies operate, which shows the influence of the market. Corporate reputation has been identified as one of the main motivations for adopting these practices. At the end of the study, it was found as sustainable practices, it was found that most of them have been preventive, of long-term application that also generate economic results for companies such as energy savings, water reuse, mitigation of solid waste generation, in addition to social practices being verified in the community in which the companies are inserted. The main motivation was the improvement of corporate reputation.

Por ello, se realizó una revisión sistemática, considerando criterios específicos de inclusión y exclusión para que se pudieran seleccionar los estudios más relevantes para la discusión del tema en cuestión. Para componer este estudio se seleccionaron 17 publicaciones, la mayoría de las publicaciones sobre prácticas sostenibles en las organizaciones provinieron de Maestrías (Disertaciones) (65%), siendo los años 2018 y 2019 con mayor número de publicaciones, solo una en 2020. En cuanto a instituciones educativas y cursos, no hubo mayor producción específica, aunque la Universidad de São Paulo (USP) tiene un mayor número de publicaciones. Los resultados mostraron que las prácticas difieren considerando cada sector en el que operan las empresas, lo que muestra la influencia del mercado. La reputación corporativa ha sido identificada como una de las principales motivaciones para adoptar estas prácticas. Al final del estudio, se encontró como prácticas sostenibles, se encontró que la mayoría de ellas han sido preventivas, de aplicación de largo plazo que también generan resultados económicos para las empresas como ahorro energético, reutilización de agua, mitigación de la generación de residuos sólidos, además de prácticas sociales que se están verificando en la comunidad en la que se insertan las empresas. La principal motivación fue la mejora de la reputación corporativa.Este estudo tem como objetivo explorar as práticas sustentáveis realizadas por organizações de diferentes setores nos últimos três anos (2018-2021). Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática, considerando critérios de inclusão e exclusão específicos para que se pudesse selecionar os estudos mais pertinentes à discussão do tema em questão. Foram selecionadas 17 publicações para compor este estudo, a maior parte das publicações sobre práticas sustentáveis nas organizações foram decorrentes de Mestrado (Dissertações) (65%), com os anos de 2018 e 2019 com maior número de publicações, somente uma em 2020. Em relação às instituições de ensino e aos cursos, não se verificou uma maior produção específica, apesar de a Universidade de São Paulo (USP) ter um maior número de publicações. Os resultados demonstraram que as práticas se diferenciam considerando cada setor de atuação das empresas, o que evidencia influência do mercado. A reputação corporativa tem sido apontada como uma das principais motivações para adoção dessas práticas. Ao final do estudo verificou-se como práticas sustentáveis verificou-se que a maior parte tem sido preventiva, de aplicação de longo prazo que também geram resultados econômicos para as empresas como economia de energia, reuso da água, mitigação de geração de resíduos sólidos, além de serem verificadas práticas sociais na comunidade em que as empresas estão inseridas.
