Resumo: In December 2019, a new coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2, causing COVID-19, emerged from China and spread worldwide, triggering a pandemic with an apocalyptic air. Since then, society has adopted new prevention habits, such as using face masks, cleaning hands with alcohol 70% frequently, and maintaining social isolation. At the same time, scientists struggled to develop vaccines against the new virus. Faced with a scenario of fear and insecurity, correct and safe information about COVID-19 is extremely important for people to protect themselves and reduce the number of cases and deaths caused by the disease. In this sense, there was developed a COVID-19 Quiz, in order to assess the level of knowledge of undergraduate students at the Instituto do Noroeste Fluminense de Educação Superior (INFES), from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Seventy-one undergraduates from the Natural Sciences, Computing, Mathematics (Bachelor), Mathematics (Licentiate), and Pedagogy participated in the COVID-19 Quiz. The vast majority of undergraduates have adequate knowledge about the new coronavirus, with an average of 75% of correct answers. Concerning the percentage average of correct answers per course, we have that Pedagogy undergraduates reached the highest percentage average, 80%, followed by those who attend Natural Sciences, 76%; Mathematics (Licenciate), 75%; Mathematics (Bachelor), 74% and Computing, 71%. The study carried out with INFES-UFF undergraduates shows the importance of obtaining correct and secure information, which is essential to fight the pandemic and infodemic.

Research, Society and Development2022-06-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/3088610.33448/rsd-v11i8.30886Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 No. 8; e42011830886Research, Society and Development; Vol. 11 Núm. 8; e42011830886Research, Society and Development; v. 11 n. 8; e420118308862525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/30886/26656Copyright (c) 2022 Arylson Figueiredo da Silva; Jean Carlos Miranda; Gustavo Silva Semaan; Nicole Brand Ederlihttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Arylson Figueiredo da Miranda, Jean CarlosSemaan, Gustavo Silva Ederli, Nicole Brand 2022-07-01T13:34:06Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/30886Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:47:28.587983Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
