Resumo: This article aimed to describe the scientific production in psychology about deafness in the state of Pernambuco (PE). With a brief historical overview and the studies of deafness psychology in order to understand how the deaf subject was included in society and in the area of psychological research, the article brings a literature review from databases (CAPES, LILACS, Scielo) using the terms psychology, deaf, deafness and Pernambuco. It is understood that the discussion on this topic is under development in the national territory, although the trajectory of psychology and studies of the deaf community are recent.

Con un breve panorama histórico y de los estudios de la psicología sobre la sordera a fin de comprender cómo se dio la inclusión del sujeto sordo en la sociedad y en el área de investigación psicológica, El artículo trae una revisión de literatura a partir de bases de datos (CAPES, LILACS, Scielo) utilizando los términos psicología, sordo, sordera y Pernambuco. Se ha comprendido que la discusión sobre este tema se encuentra en desarrollo en el territorio nacional, aunque es reciente la trayectoria de la psicología y los estudios de la comunidad sorda.Este artigo teve o objetivo de descrever a produção científica em psicologia acerca da surdez no estado de Pernambuco (PE). Com um breve panorama histórico e dos estudos da psicologia sobre a surdez a fim de compreender como se deu a inclusão do sujeito surdo na sociedade e na área de pesquisa psicológica, o artigo traz uma revisão de literatura a partir de bancos de dados (CAPES, LILACS, Scielo) utilizando os termos psicologia, surdo, surdez e Pernambuco.
