Depression in academic life: which factors are associated?

Resumo: The present study aimed to carry out an integrative review of the literature regarding depression and associated factors in students, mainly from higher education. The Scielo data base was accessed through the descriptors "depression" and "students" with the help of the Boolean operator "and", adding the filters "Brazil" and "last five years" (2016-2020). The search resulted in 18 articles, whose content was organized into a single textual corpus, and was submitted to a Descending Hierarchical Classification (CHD). 44% (8) of the studies found were carried out in the Southeast, 44% 8 recruited medical students in their methodology, 5 exclusively with medical students. Only one of the studies that specified the courses to be listed, sought to analyze courses that were not in the health area, such as pedagogy, administration, economics, pharmacy-biochemistry, process engineering and biotechnology. Aggravating factors of depression are lifestyle, course, interpersonal relationships and personal variables. Mitigating factors found were religiosity and professional experience.

Mitigating factors found were religiosity and professional experience.El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo llevar a cabo una revisión integradora de la literatura sobre la depresión y los factores asociados en los estudiantes, principalmente de la educación superior. Se accedió a la base de datos Scielo a través de los descriptores "depresión" y "estudiantes" con la ayuda del operador booleano "y", agregando los filtros "Brasil" y "últimos cinco años" (2016-2020). La búsqueda dio como resultado 18 artículos, cuyo contenido se organizó en un solo corpus textual, y se sometió a una Clasificación jerárquica descendente (CHD). El 44% (8) de los estudios encontrados se llevaron a cabo en la región sudeste, el 44% 8 reclutaron estudiantes de medicina en su metodología, 5 exclusivamente con estudiantes de medicina. Solo uno de los estudios que especificó los cursos a enumerar, buscó analizar cursos que no estaban en el área de la salud, como pedagogía, administración, economía, farmacia-bioquímica, ingeniería de procesos y biotecnología. Los factores agravantes de la depresión son el estilo de vida, el curso, las relaciones interpersonales y las variables personales. Los factores O presente estudo objetivou realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura a respeito da depressão e fatores associados em estudantes, essencialmente do nível superior. Foi acessada a base de dados Scielo, através dos descritores “depressão” e “estudantes” com auxílio do operador boleano “and”, adicionando-se os filtros “Brasil”, e “últimos cinco anos” (2016-2020). A busca resultou em18 artigos, cujo conteúdo foi organizado em um único corpus textual, e foi submetido a uma Classificação Hierárquica Descendente (CHD).44% (8) dos estudos encontrados foram realizados na região Sudeste, 44% 8 recrutaram estudantes de Medicina em sua metodologia, sendo 5 exclusivamente com estudantes de Medicina. Apenas um dos estudos que especificaram os cursos a serem elencados, buscou analisar cursos que não fossem da área de saúde, como pedagogia, administração, ciências econômicas, farmácia-bioquímica, engenharia de processos e biotecnologia. Fatores agravantes do quadro de depressão são estilo de vida, curso, relações interpessoais e variáveis pessoais.
