Influence of industrialized food consumption in child overweight and obesity: a review

Resumo: The present study aimed to conduct an integrative review on the influence of consumption of processed foods on overweight and childhood obesity. The search sources were the databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Library of Medicine (PubMED) and Google Scholar, they are online search platforms. To perform the search, the following descriptors registered in the descriptors in health sciences (DeCS) were used: “Ultra-processed foods”, “Childhood obesity” and “Children”. To select the sample, the following inclusion criteria were used: Original articles published from 2014 to 2020, indexed in the selected databases. it was observed that the consumption of processed foods prevails, showing the consequences of their intake on children's health, including weight gain, dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome. The studies already carried out allow the obtaining of relevant information regarding the contribution of correct eating habits, where we observed some of the many foods that are factors of great influence for the high levels of weight gain and chronic diseases, not only for a good development, but also, to make these children healthy adults. In view of the various researched studies, it is possible to verify that overweight and childhood obesity are starting more and more early, as well as having a strong influence with the consumption of processed foods.

Las fuentes de búsqueda fueron las bases de datos: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Library of Medicine (PubMED) y Google Scholar, son plataformas de búsqueda online. Para realizar la búsqueda se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores registrados en los descriptores en ciencias de la salud (DeCS): “Alimentos ultraprocesados”, “Obesidad infantil” y “Niños”. Para la selección de la muestra se utilizaron los siguientes criterios de inclusión: Artículos originales publicados entre 2014 y 2020, indexados en las bases de datos seleccionadas. Se observó que prevalece el consumo de alimentos procesados, mostrando las consecuencias de su ingesta en la salud de los niños, incluyendo aumento de peso, dislipidemias y síndrome metabólico. Los estudios ya realizados permiten obtener información relevante sobre el aporte de los hábitos alimentarios correctos, donde observamos algunos de los muchos alimentos que son factores de gran influencia para los altos niveles de ganancia de peso y enfermedades crónicas, no solo para un buen desarrollo, sino también, para hacer de estos niños adultos sanos. A la vista de los diversos estudios investigados, es posible constatar que el sobrepeso y la obesidad infantil comienzan cada vez más temprano, además de tener una fuerte influencia en el consumo de alimentos procesados.O presente estudo objetivou realizar uma revisão integrativa sobre a influência do consumo de alimentos industrializados no sobrepeso e na obesidade infantil. As fontes de busca foram as bases de dados: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Library of Medicine (PubMED) e o Google Acadêmico, as mesmas são plataformas de busca online. Para a realização da busca, utilizou-se os seguintes descritores cadastrados nos descritores em ciências da saúde (DeCS): “Alimentos ultraprocessados”, “Obesidade infantil” e “Crianças”. Para selecionar a amostra, foram utilizados os seguintes critérios de inclusão: Artigos originais publicados no período de 2014 a 2020, indexados nas bases de dados selecionadas. observou-se que o consumo de alimentos industrializados prevalecem, demostrando consequências de sua ingestão à saúde infanto-juvenil, incluindo o ganho de peso, dislipidemias e síndrome metabólica. Os estudos já realizados permitem a obtenção de informações relevantes quanto à contribuição de hábitos alimentares corretos, onde observou-se alguns dos muitos alimentos que são fatores de grande influência para os altos níveis de ganho de peso e doenças crônicas, não apenas para um bom desenvolvimento, mas também, para fazer dessas crianças, adultos saudáveis.
