Interprofessional Education in Health: elucidating concepts

Resumo: | This text aims to elucidate basic concepts for the strengthening of interprofessional education in health. It is a theoretical-reflective text, built on the basis of a Narrative Review. It took as its source the scientific literature on the topic of Interprofessional Education (IPE). The materials were located and selected from a free search in the Virtual Health Library (BVS), in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and in the Editora Rede Unida website, submitted to successive in-depth readings, seeking to apprehend the concepts in focus, and presented in the narrative synthesis format. The literature shows that the term uniprofessional refers to the process in which the knowledge of an area predominates. Multiprofessional knowledge refers to the process in which there is a certain coordination between disciplines. Interprofessionality, on the other hand, occurs when professionals learn from and about each other, and transprofessionality takes a higher stage, characterizing the fusion of certain fields of knowledge. Still, the concept of teamwork is characterized as a complementarity of practices, while collaboration has the sense of cooperation. It is important to emphasize that the elucidation of concepts and the reflection carried out in this work are important in the sense of contributing to the formation and professional practices being consistent with new, more advanced ways of producing health and, thus, with the strengthening of the Unified Health System. |

Es un texto teórico-reflexivo, construido a partir de una Revisión Narrativa. Se tomó como fuente la literatura científica sobre el tema de la Educación Interprofesional (EIP). Los materiales fueron localizados y seleccionados a partir de una búsqueda libre en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS), en la Biblioteca Científica Electrónica en Línea (SciELO) y en el sitio web de la Editora Rede Unida, sometidos a sucesivas lecturas en profundidad, buscando aprehender los conceptos en enfoque, y presentado en el formato de síntesis narrativa. La literatura muestra que el término uniprofesional se refiere al proceso en el que predomina el conocimiento de un área del saber. El conocimiento multiprofesional se refiere al proceso en el que existe una cierta coordinación entre disciplinas. La interprofesionalidad, por otro lado, ocurre cuando los profesionales aprenden unos de otros y la transprofesionalidad toma un estadio superior, caracterizando la fusión de ciertos campos del saber. Aun así, el concepto de trabajo en equipo se caracteriza como una complementariedad de prácticas, mientras que la colaboración tiene el sentido de cooperación. Es importante resaltar que la elucidación de conceptos y la reflexión realizada en este trabajo son importantes en el sentido de contribuir a que la formación y las prácticas profesionales sean coherentes con nuevas formas más avanzadas de producir salud y, por ende, con el fortalecimiento del Sistema Único de Salud.Este texto tem o objetivo de elucidar conceitos de base para o fortalecimento da educação interprofissional em saúde. Trata-se de um texto do tipo teórico-reflexivo, construído sobre as bases de uma Revisão Narrativa. Tomou por fonte a literatura científica referente ao tema da Educação Interprofissional (EIP). Os materiais foram localizados e selecionados a partir de busca livre na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), na Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) e no site da Editora Rede Unida, submetidos a sucessivas leituras em profundidade, buscando-se a apreensão dos conceitos em foco, e apresentados no formato de síntese narrativa. A literatura mostra que o termo uniprofissional refere-se ao processo em que predomina o saber de uma área de conhecimento. Os saberes multi e pluriprofissional se referem ao processo em que há certa coordenação entre as disciplinas. Já a interprofissionalidade ocorre quando os profissionais aprendem uns com os outros e sobre outros, e a transprofissionalidade se coloca com uma etapa superior, caracterizando a fusão de determinados campos de saber. Ainda, o conceito de trabalho em equipe se caracteriza como complementaridade de práticas, enquanto a colaboração possui o sentido de cooperação.
