Resumo: The first human coronavirus (HCoV) was identified in 1965. In the following years, types of strains were the focus of several studies, until the emergence of the Coronavirus that caused a highly pathogenic severe acute syndrome in 2002 to 2003. SARS-CoV-2 (Acronym for Coronavirus 2 of severe acute respiratory syndrome) identified in December 2019 as the etiologic agent of the disease caused by Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The primary target of SARS-CoV-2 is the respiratory tract and its presence at the site causes inflammation that can cause clinical signs. This virus is capable of infecting multiple hosts, causing a variety of liver, enteric, respiratory, and central nervous system diseases. This study aimed to carry out a review of the scientific literature to identify and point out the importance of monitoring and interventions in patient care, due to new mutations of the new Coronavirus. To carry out the research, the keywords COVID-19, new coronavirus, monitoring, mutations and interventions were used. Such keywords were associated using the Boolean AND operator. Eleven articles were included in the results that characterized the study theme. In analyzing the articles, it was possible to identify that COVID-19 has been disseminated by several countries since 2019, being classified as a Pandemic by the WHO. Furthermore, it is observed that public health authorities took protective measures to monitor patients with COVID-19, in addition to monitoring the development of new variants of the virus through genomic sequencing. Furthermore, vaccines have been developed in order to prevent the spread of the virus and serious clinical signs in infected people. Soon, everyone will be immunized against the New Coronavirus and SARS-CoV-2 variants, stressing the importance and need for studies to understand the virus in its form, structure and possible mutations.

Research, Society and Development2021-11-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/2263510.33448/rsd-v10i14.22635Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 No. 14; e579101422635Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 Núm. 14; e579101422635Research, Society and Development; v. 10 n. 14; e5791014226352525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/22635/19900Copyright (c) 2021 Bruno Edvaldo da Silva; Jardeilson José da Silva; Lidiane Gomes da Silvahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Bruno Edvaldo daSilva, Jardeilson José daSilva, Lidiane Gomes da2021-12-04T11:48:39Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/22635Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:41:44.977464Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
