Anxiety assessment in Nursing students: integrative literature review

Resumo: | To identify the elements that make up the assessment of anxiety in nursing students. Integrative literature review, with the guiding question: “What elements make up the assessment of anxiety in students attending higher education in nursing?”. Searches were performed in the following databases: LILACS, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL and SciELO. 46 studies comprised the review; of these, 95.6% used instruments and 8.7% used clinical signs and symptoms to assess anxiety. The most frequent instruments were the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI); the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21); and, clinical signs and symptoms: changes in breathing, heart rate, body temperature and presence of nervousness. This review contributes to the advancement of research related to anxiety in nursing students. It is suggested, however, to carry out studies with higher levels of evidence involving the elements of anxiety assessment, especially with regard to clinical signs and symptoms. |

Las búsquedas se realizaron en las siguientes bases de datos: LILACS, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL y SciELO. 46 estudios comprendieron la revisión; de estos, el 95,6% utilizó instrumentos y el 8,7% utilizó signos y síntomas clínicos para evaluar la ansiedad. Los instrumentos más frecuentes fueron el Inventario de Ansiedad Rasgo-Estado (STAI); la Escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés (DASS-21); y, signos y síntomas clínicos: cambios en la respiración, frecuencia cardíaca, temperatura corporal y presencia de nerviosismo. Esta revisión contribuye al avance de la investigación sobre ansiedad en estudiantes de enfermería. Se sugiere, sin embargo, realizar estudios con niveles más altos de evidencia que involucren los elementos de evaluación de la ansiedad, especialmente en lo que respecta a los signos y síntomas clínicos.Identificar os elementos que compõem a avaliação da ansiedade em estudantes de enfermagem. Revisão integrativa da literatura, tendo como questão norteadora: “Quais elementos compõem a avaliação da ansiedade em estudantes que cursam o ensino superior em enfermagem?”. As buscas foram realizadas nas bases de dados: LILACS, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL e SciELO. 46 estudos compuseram a revisão; desses, 95,6% utilizaram instrumentos e 8,7% sinais e sintomas clínicos para avaliação da ansiedade. Os instrumentos mais frequentes foram o Inventário de Ansiedade Traço-Estado; a Escala de Depressão, Ansiedade e Estresse; e, os sinais e sintomas clínicos: alterações na respiração, na frequência cardíaca, na temperatura corporal e presença de nervosismo. Esta revisão contribui para o avanço de pesquisas relacionadas à ansiedade em estudantes de enfermagem.
