The importance of probiotics and prebiotics in nutritional health during adulthood

Resumo: The Probiotics are part of the so-called functional foods, whose main target is the intestinal mucosa. Different probiotics are capable of inducing pro-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory or secretory responses that can inhibit carcinogenesis. Therefore, this study aimed to: Understand about the importance of probiotics and prebiotics in adulthood. And as specific objectives: conceptualize about probiotics and prebiotics; indicate the effectiveness of these microorganisms for health and the fight against pathologies in adulthood; understand about the importance of functional foods that contain probiotics and prebiotics in the treatment of chronic pathologies; show how probiotics and prebiotics are beneficial in improving gastrointestinal functioning. The methodology applied to this research was bibliographic of a qualitative nature, with a systematic review as the basis for its elaboration. Data for analysis were collected from scientific articles, books and magazines, accessed from bibliographic sources on platforms such as Google Scholar, and Scielo. The inclusion criteria adopted in this study were based on the proposed theme, emphasizing the free access articles in Portuguese and a foreign language already published, related to the descriptors revised according to the VHL - Virtual Health Library, DeCS - Descriptors in Sciences Health, being: Probiotics; Prebiotics; Health. Therefore, this research contributes to the scientific knowledge applied to probiotics and prebiotics, and to Nutrition professionals with regard to the handling of these foods in the diet of the population.

Diferentes probióticos son capaces de inducir respuestas proinflamatorias, antiinflamatorias o secretoras que pueden inhibir la carcinogénesis. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo: Comprender la importancia de los probióticos y prebióticos en la edad adulta. Y como objetivos específicos: conceptualizar sobre probióticos y prebióticos; indicar la eficacia de estos microorganismos para la salud y la lucha contra patologías en la edad adulta; comprender sobre la importancia de los alimentos funcionales que contienen probióticos y prebióticos en el tratamiento de patologías crónicas; mostrar cómo los probióticos y los prebióticos son beneficiosos para mejorar el funcionamiento gastrointestinal. La metodología aplicada a esta investigación fue bibliográfica de carácter cualitativo, con una revisión sistemática como base para su elaboración. Los datos para el análisis fueron recolectados de artículos científicos, libros y revistas, accedidos de fuentes bibliográficas en plataformas como Google Scholar y Scielo. Los criterios de inclusión adoptados en este estudio se basaron en el tema propuesto, con énfasis en los artículos de libre acceso en portugués y lengua extranjera ya publicados, relacionados con los descriptores revisados ​​según la BVS - Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, DeCS - Descriptores en Ciencias de la Salud, siendo: Probióticos; prebióticos; Salud. Por tanto, esta investigación contribuye al conocimiento científico aplicado a los probióticos y prebióticos, ya los profesionales de la Nutrición en lo que se refiere al manejo de estos alimentos en la dieta de la población.Os probióticos fazem parte dos chamados alimentos funcionais, cujo principal alvo é a mucosa intestinal. Diferentes probióticos são capazes de induzir respostas pró-inflamatórias, anti-inflamatórias ou secretórias que podem inibir a carcinogênese. Assim sendo, este estudo teve como objetivo geral: Compreender acerca da importância dos probióticos e prebióticos na fase adulta. E como objetivos específicos: conceituar sobre os probióticos e prebióticos; indicar sobre a eficácia desses microrganismos para a saúde e o combate de patologias na fase adulta; compreender acerca da importância dos alimentos funcionais que contém probióticos e prebióticos no tratamento de patologias crônicas; mostrar como os probióticos e prebióticos são benéficos na melhoria do funcionamento gastrointestinal. A metodologia aplicada a esta pesquisa foi bibliográfica de cunho qualitativa, sendo uma a revisão sistemática como base para sua elaboração. Os dados para análise foram coletados de artigos científicos, livros e revistas, acessados de fontes bibliográficas nas plataformas como Google Acadêmico e Scielo. Os critérios para inclusão adotados neste estudo, tiveram fundamentação na temática proposta, dando ênfase para os artigos de acesso gratuito em português e língua estrangeira já publicados, relacionados com os descritores revisados de acordo com BVS- Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, DeCS – Descritores em Ciências da Saúde, sendo: Probióticos; Prebióticos; Saúde.
