Efecto terapéutico de los ácidos grasos omega 3 en la prevención y tratamiento de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles

Resumo: Chronic non- communicable diseases are one of the most prevalent health problems in Brazil correspondin to the vast majority of causes of death. Given this scenario, functional foods and their properties can provide benefits to improve quality of life and reduce the risk of chronic degenerative diseases. The aim of this study was to review the effects of omega 3 fatty acids through functional foods, as well as their specific dosage, in order to provide benefits to human health. Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out using the Google Scholar, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed). Results: Studies have shown that the consumption of omega 3 is extremely important both in the diet of healthy individuals and for those who already have some diseases such as diabetes, systemic arterial hypertension, neurological disorders and cardiovascular diseases in most. Conclusion: An adequate diet helps individuals in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases. Omega 3 showed a reduction in some cardiovascular events, in the context of secondary prevention, but in diabetes no significant benefits were found.

Ante este escenario, los alimentos funcionales y sus propiedades pueden brindar beneficios para mejorar la calidad de vida y reducir el riesgo de enfermedades crónico degenerativas. El objetivo de este estudio fue revisar los efectos de los ácidos grasos omega 3, a través de alimentos funcionales, así como su dosificación específica, con el fin de brindar beneficios a la salud humana. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica utilizando Google académico, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (PubMed). Resultados: Los estudios han demostrado que el consumo de omega 3 es sumamente importante tanto en la dieta de individuos sanos como para aquellos que ya padecen algunas enfermedades como diabetes, hipertensión arterial sistémica, trastornos neurológicos y enfermedades cardiovasculares en la mayoría. Conclusión: Una dieta adecuada ayuda a las personas en la prevención y tratamiento de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles, especialmente las enfermedades cardiovasculares. El omega 3 mostró una reducción de algunos eventos cardiovasculares, en el contexto de la prevención secundaria, pero en diabetes no se encontraron beneficios significativos.As doenças crônicas não transmissíveis constituem um dos problemas de saúde de elevada prevalência no Brasil, correspondendo a grande maioria das causas de mortes. Diante deste cenário, os alimentos funcionais e suas propriedades podem proporcionar benefícios para melhorar a qualidade de vida e reduzir os riscos de doenças crônico-degenerativas. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão sobre os efeitos dos ácidos graxos ômega 3, por meio dos alimentos funcionais, bem como sua dosagem específica, a fim de proporcionar benefícios para a saúde humana. Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica a partir das bases Google Acadêmico, Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO), U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed). Resultados: Estudos mostraram que o consumo de ômega 3 é de extrema importância tanto na alimentação dos indivíduos saudáveis, quanto para aqueles que já apresentam algumas doenças como: o diabetes, a hipertensão arterial sistêmica, os distúrbios neurológicos e as doenças cardiovasculares em sua maioria. Conclusão: Uma alimentação adequada auxilia os indivíduos na prevenção e tratamento de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis, principalmente as cardiovasculares.
