Approach to food education in science books of sciences of the eighth year of Fundamental Education

Resumo: Healthy eating is responsible for providing us with health and a good quality of life. On the other hand, there are numerous diseases associated with poor diet and the rates are alarming, in addition to the issue of obesity, which is a major concern among adults and is increasingly common in children. The aim of this study was to evaluate the approach to food education in science textbooks of the eighth grade of elementary school, from schools in the municipality of Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The study was developed from the analysis of the content of these books through a questionnaire prepared by the authors. After a qualitative analysis of the data, it became evident that the books in question cover most of the proposed content, however, it was not possible to point out the best or most complete. However, because they are different authors addressing the same subject, some themes are better emphasized in certain books and less in others.

Todavía, hay incontable enfermidades asociadas a una mala alimentación y las tasas son alarmantes, además del argumento de la obesidad que representa una grande preocupación entre los adultos y cada vez es más frecuente en niños. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el abordaje de la educación alimentaria en libros didacticos de ciências del octavo año de la educación fundamental, de escuelas del condado de Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. El estudio ha desarrollado a partir de la análisis del contenido de eses libros didacticos  por médio de un cuestionario elaborado por los autores. Después del análisis cualitativa de los datos, se hizo evidente que los libros em cuentión tratan de los contenidos propuestos, pero no se puede, sin embargo, apuntar el mejor o lo más completo. Todavía, porque son de autores distintos, hablando de lo mismo assunto, algunos temas son mas bien abordados en ciertos libros y menos en otros.A alimentação saudável é responsável em nos proporcionar saúde e boa qualidade de vida. Por outro lado, existem inúmeras doenças associadas a má alimentação e os índices são alarmantes, além da questão da obesidade que representa uma grande preocupação entre os adultos e cada vez mais é mais frequente em crianças. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a abordagem da educação alimentar em livros didáticos de ciências do oitavo ano do Ensino Fundamental, de escolas do município de Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. O estudo se desenvolveu a partir da análise do conteúdo desses livros por meio de um questionário elaborado pelos autores. Após análise qualitativa dos dados, evidenciou-se que os livros em questão abordam grande parte dos conteúdos propostos, porém, não foi possível apontar o melhor ou mais completo.
