Resumo: | The coronavirus, a genre of the Coronaviridae Family, are known to be a enveloped vírus with a large and positive RNA genome. Among the main routes of coronavirus transmission are: the direct one, through coughing, sneezing and stray and transmission through contact with oral, nasal and eye mucosa. Although the presence of neurological symptoms in the first patients infected with COVID-19 has been of low scale, in the past few days, reports of neurological cases are more frequent, in addition to those on the medium and long term consequences of the pandemic in the Central Nervous System (CNS) and/or impacts on neurological diseases. Thus, this research aimed to describe the neurological complications in patients infected with the new coronavirus. It is an integrative literature review, of an exploratory nature, with a qualitative approach. To carry out this study, the following databases were consulted: MEDLINE, Google Scholar and SCIELO. The descriptors were used in an associated way: Neurological Complications, Neurology, COVID-19 and Coronavirus Infections. Initially, articles that addressed the proposed theme were considered. To compose the basis for the discussion of this study, a total of 9 articles were retrieved by the search strategies, which were fully analyzed and discussed. Neurological symptoms were classified into three categories: symptoms or diseases of the Central Nervous System, such as headache, dizziness, impaired consciousness, ataxia, acute cerebrovascular disease and epilepsy, symptoms of the Peripheral Nervous System, such as hypogeusia, hyposmia, hypopsia and neuralgia , and musculoskeletal symptoms. |

Entre las principales vías de transmisión del coronavirus están: la directa, a través de la tos, los estornudos y los extraviados, y la transmisión por contacto con la mucosa oral, nasal y ocular. Aunque la presencia de síntomas neurológicos en los primeros pacientes infectados con COVID-19 ha sido de baja escala, en los últimos días, los informes de casos neurológicos son más frecuentes, además de aquellos en las consecuencias a medio y largo plazo de la pandemia en el Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC) y/o impactos en enfermedades neurológicas. Por lo tanto, esta investigación tuvo como objetivo describir las complicaciones neurológicas en pacientes infectados con el nuevo coronavirus. Esta es una revisión integral de la literatura, de naturaleza exploratoria, con un enfoque cualitativo. Para llevar a cabo este estudio, se consultaron las siguientes bases de datos: MEDLINE, Google Académico y SCIELO. Los descriptores se utilizaron de forma asociada: Complicaciones Neurológicas, Neurología, COVID-19 e Infecciones por Coronavirus. Inicialmente, se consideraron los artículos que abordaban el tema propuesto.. Para componer la base para la discusión de este estudio, las estrategias de búsqueda recuperaron un total de 9 artículos, que fueron analizados y discutidos en su totalidad. Los síntomas neurológicos se clasificaron en tres categorías: síntomas o enfermedades del Sistema Nervioso Central, como dolor de cabeza, mareos, alteración del conocimiento, ataxia, enfermedad cerebrovascular aguda y epilepsia, síntomas del Sistema Nervioso Periférico, como hipogeusia, hiposmia, hipopsia y neuralgia y síntomas musculoesqueléticos.Os coronavírus, um gênero da Família Coronaviridae, são conhecidos por serem vírus envelopados com genoma de RNA grande de cadeia positiva. Entre as principais vias de transmissão do coronavírus estão: a direta, por meio de tosse, espirro e perdigotos e transmissão por contato com mucosa oral, nasal e dos olhos. Apesar de que a presença de sintomas neurológicos nos primeiros pacientes infectados pelo COVID-19 tenha sido de baixa escala, nos últimos dias, os relatos de casos neurológicos estão mais frequentes, além daqueles sobre consequências da pandemia a médio e longo prazo no Sistema Nervoso Central (SNC) e/ou dos impactos sobre as doenças neurológicas. Com isso, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo descrever as complicações neurológicas em pacientes infectados pelo novo coronavírus. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, de caráter exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa. Para a realização desse estudo foram consultadas as bases de dados: MEDLINE, Google Acadêmico e SCIELO. Utilizou-se os descritores de forma associada: Complicações Neurológicas, Neurologia, COVID-19 e Infecções por Coronavírus. Considerou-se, inicialmente, artigos que abordassem a temática proposta. Para compor a fundamentação da discussão deste estudo, foram recuperados pelas estratégias de busca um total de 9 artigos, que foram analisados e discutidos integralmente.
