The nurse's role in the prevention of cervical cancer

Resumo: Introduction: Cancer is a general term that encompasses more than 100 categories of diseases that have in common the disordered growth of cells, causing functional disorders, cancer being one of these disorders. In view of this, there is cervical cancer caused by the Human Papilloma Virus, which results in the third neoplasm that most affects women. Therefore, studies on the subject are relevant for qualified assistance in preventing this disease. Objective: To identify in the literature how nurses can act in the prevention of cervical cancer. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), with the following inclusion criteria: articles published between 2016 and 2023, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, complete and freely available, used Bardin's Content Analysis. Results: It was found in the fifteen articles analyzed that the role of nurses in preventing cervical cancer are behavioral, social and cognitive interventions through health education. Conclusion: Nurses have an extremely important role in preventing this neoplasm.

Ante esto, existe el cáncer de cuello uterino causado por el Virus del Papiloma Humano, que resulta ser la tercera neoplasia que más afecta a las mujeres. Por lo tanto, los estudios sobre el tema son relevantes para una asistencia calificada en la prevención de esta enfermedad. Objetivo: Identificar en la literatura cómo pueden actuar las enfermeras en la prevención del cáncer de cuello uterino. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura realizada en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS), con los siguientes criterios de inclusión: artículos publicados entre 2016 y 2023, en portugués, inglés y español, completos y de libre acceso, utilizaron el Análisis de Contenido de Bardin. Resultados: Se encontró en los quince artículos analizados que el papel del enfermero en la prevención del cáncer de cuello uterino son intervenciones conductuales, sociales y cognitivas a través de la educación en salud. Conclusión: El enfermero tiene un papel sumamente importante en la prevención de esta neoplasia.Introdução: O câncer é um termo geral que engloba mais de 100 categorias de doenças que têm em comum o crescimento desordenado de células, causando transtornos funcionais, sendo o câncer um desses transtornos. Frente a isso, existe o câncer cervical provocado pelo Papiloma Vírus Humano que resulta na terceira neoplasia que mais afeta as mulheres. Dessa forma, estudos sobre a temática são relevantes para uma assistência qualificada na prevenção dessa doença. Objetivo: Identificar na literatura como o enfermeiro pode atuar na prevenção do câncer cervical. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura realizada na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), tendo como critérios de inclusão: artigos publicados no período de 2016 a 2023, nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol, completos e disponíveis gratuitamente, utilizado a Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: Verificou-se nos quinze artigos analisados que a atuação do enfermeiro na prevenção do câncer cervical são intervenções comportamentais, sociais e cognitivas através da educação em saúde.
