The fair as a space of intersection between environmental issue and health promotion

Resumo: Fairs are rich spaces in many social aspects, including the potential to contribute to health promotion. Based on this possibility, this study aims to analyze and report an experience of health promotion action with market traders of the Green Market of Arapiraca/AL, considering the work-environment-health relationship. The first stage of the study was based on documentary research, contextualizing the social space of action. The second stage consists of an experience report, based on the research-action cycle: plan, act, describe, and evaluate. Collective planning was carried out, with the participation of sectors of the municipal government and the market vendors themselves. The action had an open nature, to be built based on the demands raised, respecting the market vendors' protagonism. The planning indicated relevance to the issue of organic waste generated by the fair, with potential to be a means of spreading diseases. Composting was elected as the strategy to be explored as an alternative to transform what, many times, is considered garbage into a beneficial product for the marketers, consumers, and society in general. The evaluation points to possibilities of continuing the action, although it requires the involvement of other academic sectors and the municipal government.

Partiendo de esta posibilidad, este estudio pretende analizar y relatar una experiencia de acción de promoción de la salud con los comerciantes del Mercado Verde de Arapiraca/AL, considerando la relación trabajo-ambiente-salud. La primera etapa del estudio se basó en la investigación documental, contextualizando el espacio social de la acción. La segunda etapa consiste en un informe de experiencia, basado en el ciclo de una investigación-acción: planificar, actuar, describir y evaluar. Se realizó una planificación colectiva, con la participación de sectores del gobierno municipal y de los propios vendedores del mercado. La acción tuvo un carácter abierto, a construir en base a las demandas planteadas, respetando el protagonismo de los comerciantes del mercado. La planificación indicaba la relevancia del tema de los residuos orgánicos generados por la feria, con potencial de ser un medio de propagación de enfermedades. El compostaje fue elegido como estrategia a explorar como alternativa para la transformación de lo que a menudo se considera un residuo en un producto beneficioso para los comerciantes del mercado, los consumidores y la sociedad en general. La evaluación realizada apunta a las posibilidades de continuar la acción, aunque requiere la implicación de otros sectores académicos y del gobierno municipal.As feiras consistem em espaços ricos em vários aspectos sociais, inclusive com potencial de contribuir para a promoção da saúde. Com base nessa possibilidade, esse estudo possui os objetivos de relatar e analisar uma experiência de ação de promoção da saúde com os feirantes do Mercado Verde de Arapiraca/AL, considerando a relação trabalho-ambiente-saúde. A primeira etapa do estudo se baseou em pesquisa documental, contextualizando o espaço social da ação. A segunda etapa consiste em relato de experiência, pautando-se no ciclo de uma pesquisa-ação: planejar, agir, descrever e avaliar. Foi realizado planejamento coletivo, com participação de setores da prefeitura e os próprios feirantes. A ação tinha caráter aberto, a ser construída a partir das demandas levantadas, respeitando o protagonismo dos feirantes. O planejamento indicou relevância para a questão dos resíduos orgânicos gerados pela feira, com potencial de serem meio de propagação de doenças. A compostagem foi eleita como estratégia a ser explorada como alternativa de transformação do que, muitas vezes, é considerado lixo, em produto benéfico para os feirantes, consumidores e sociedade em geral.
